What Guests Are Saying
Axtel campground is praised for its beautiful location, clean facilities, and friendly hosts, particularly Vickie, who ensures a pleasant experience for visitors. Many families enjoy the quiet atmosphere, spacious campsites with easy access to water activities, and a welcoming community of fellow campers. However, some guests noted issues such as low water levels, closed restrooms, and occasional noise, but these did not significantly detract from the overall positive experiences reported.

This was our first time camping at a Army Corps Of Engineers campground and overall it was a great experience; so much do we extended our stay one day extra. We thought our campsite was clean, the electric service and water worked, it was level, and there was plenty of room. We arrived on a Friday and left the following Wednesday and the only reason I didn’t give a 5 star rating is because we saw no evidence of the bathhouse being cleaned over the weekend during the heaviest time of use. We’d definitely like to camp there again - I just hope the cleaning crew is funded for daily service.

Great views and large lots with electric and water hookups. Showers near 106 could use a paint job but overall great experience

One of the best Kentucky State Parks in the State and Nation. You can enjoy volleyball, tennis, basketball, putt-putt, the beach and a game of golf at a nearby golf course. The Park Lodge Restaurant provides a good menu of food and best of all, if you are a "camper," you'll like the campsites and firepits to enjoy your hamburgers and hotdogs. But don't forget the serenity you'll find during the early morning sunrise if you awake at that time or in the evening when you can watch the sunset. Or perhaps, you can enjoy rest and relaxation by sleeping in, without the hustle and bustle or cares of this life that can infringe upon your mediating and enjoying the wonders of God's creation.

We had another great weekend at Axtel. It was our first time at site B-035 and we really liked it, and want to try and book it again in the future. The new fire pits are awesome.
