The campground overall was kept, clean and sites were nice. Staff was friendly. The trails were fun for teens and adults. My only thing keeping it from being a perfect experience was the beach being open to people besides campers. I was there was just a camping beach. There were some unsavory characters at the beach.

This is a nice site for family groups. The Pavilion is an asset but the roof has many holes and leaks a lot when raining--So bring extra table cloths to protect your food and stuff. The staff are great, really do a great job keeping things clean.

Campground is very shaded with good spacing between sites. Good interior paved roads with good electrical hookups. No water or sewer at any site. However be cautious when on the lake!! Many areas along the shore line or up most coves off the main body of the lake were not clear cut when the dam was built. Now there are many large trees just under water level with no buoys or marking to show where they are. Many boats sustain damage when negotiating certain areas of the lake. Also with no water patrol after 5:00 the jet skis and kayaks are everywhere after sunset. Bow hunters with extremely bright yellow lights on front of their boat will come at you with blinding intensity. Overall this is a beautiful lake but a very heavily used facility especially on weekends! Theft in the area is also a problem. Parking at most boat ramp parking lots can be very disappointing when you come back in to find tires, catalytic converters, gasoline or other items missing from your tow vehicle. We have used this campground since it opened in the 70's and had many great times. However crowding with little law enforcement has now made the area a concern. Rowan county in general may have theft issues!
