Rarely a bad day on the Island (except for summer days with no, or Westward wind)! The wildlife was out in force (hoses, various deer, birds), weather was perfect, and not a bug insight, even on the marsh. Great trip!

had a great experience - only one problem. There was what likely turned out to be a "squatter" couple in my reserved site #72 when I arrived at 6:45 PM the night of my reservation. They claimed they had reserved site 74 and that they did not think anyone was using 72 but I belive the office had no record of their reservation in 74. I stayed in 74 that night to avoid making them leave and causing problems They left the next morning before 10 AM and before the rangers could look into it (I had gone to ocean city that morning for supplies).
one of the bathrooms near site 72 seemed to be out of order

I have visited many National Parks during the last 5 years. I am glad to see employees doing their jobs and enforcing rules and regulations. The employees at Assateague Island National Seashore treated me with respect and followed regulations in place which helps keep the park safe and cuts waste, fraud, and abuse. Checking Park passes and verifying owners is a very important process, this keeps the parks safe and reduces the amount of vandalism. The campground hosts did an excellent job, making sure camping equipment was in the proper place and food storage rules where followed.

Amazing location. Good facilities. Not a whole lot to do other than the beach and the horses but we keep coming back. Good access to Ocean City.

Absolutely beautiful! This is an experience that is a must. We stayed in the Oceans campsites ( sites 36 and 20) and were visited by the horses both night and day. What a treasure this place is. Would definitely do again. The beach is stunning, did not disappoint!

It was such a relaxing week! All of the Rangers were so nice and helpful. We were camping in Oceanside and hearing the waves crashing on the beach, walking up to the observation space & watching the waves come in, and of course, ponies everywhere was a dream come true.
My mother got me the book Misty of Chincoteague when I was 10 years old (I'm 65) and it has always been my dream to go to Assateague/Chincoteague. I can't believe I was actually there! We will definitely be making this trip again.
My deepest thanks to all the Rangers.

One of the best "dry" camping areas along the Eastern Seaboard. Wonderful walking, biking and beach opportunities for all ages. Each site setup nicely for a relaxing stay.

We have been coming to Assateague to camp for almost thirty years and love it. During our most recent trip in mid-May, we noticed that the bathrooms were very smelly. I'm not sure if they are being cleaned regularly anymore, but it was noticeable stinky and it wasn't even hot out. We were in a walk-in oceanside campground.
