Amazing stay at the Assateague Idland National Seashore! We stayed for 2 weeks. Our site was clean and had excellent positioning for our solar. The staff was very friendly , polite and helpful! The out houses and shower were clean and well maintained.
Would love to seen some type of solar heat for the showers.
The grounds were very well maintained. I highly recommend you give them a try when in the area!!

Our favorite place to camp. So beautiful, clean and well-run. We have been coming on Memorial Day weekend for 25 years. We don't do much when we come aside from enjoying the beach and cooking food at the campfire. I highly recommend bringing a screened tent for use over your picnic table for sunshade, protection from mosquitos and deter horses when you are eating. I love the bins under the tables and all the warnings this year about putting food away when you go to bed at night or even when you leave the site to do an activity which we learned to do years ago but many people don't realize is important.

We had a very good horse sighting week. A lot of activity. Also witnessed a person trying to keep a horse from investigating the bags still in the truck. If horse grabs a bag from your truck bed it belongs to them now, DONβT try to pull it away from them like was
a dog chew toy. Yes we witnessed that occurring.

The Island is very pretty and seeing the ponies in their element is always wonderful. Staying onsite gives you a different perspective then staying off island and only visiting for a few hours. We had a site on bayside and it was nice size and level. The ponies came through our site a couple times a day. Depending on the weather it is nice to be able to kayak in the bay too.

Staff were very helpful and were careful about protecting the horses as well as the people. Very clean. Lots of flies, but thatβs not under their control.

Unique area and if it weren't for lousy weather and a head cold, would have thrown out that last star. Great camp setup in the loop area but the beach camping looked enticing. Nice beach area(We did not visit the guarded beach area.) and of course horses everywhere. Really glad we did this trip.

WHOA!!! I have tried for 2 years to get a campsite and finally got it! It is amazing! And so much fun. We saw ponies everyday, all day ling. Went kayaking and hiking. The sites are huge and well situated. Very good accommodations and if course it's an island with wild ponies so what could possibly be bad about it? We got an annual pass and I plan on coming down as often as I can, even if I can't camp there all the time. I highly.recommend everyone camp at least once in their life on Assateague.
