About Monocle Lake
Monocle Lake Campground offers a a relaxing place to fish, swim and hike along the shores of scenic Monocle Lake just off Lake Superior. It is located in Michigan's Upper Peninsula in the northeastern corner of the Hiawatha National Forest.
The campground is centrally located among many recreational opportunities in the Sault Ste. Marie area, including the Whitefish Bay National Scenic Byway and Tahquamenon Falls.

Nice swimming beach, campsites are great and nice and large to fit trailers, paved road, lots of trails to hike.
It says there is water however there is not a way to attach a hose to the water to fill your trailer/rv. They really need to fix this issue and make it so you can attach to it. It made quite a mess trying to stand there for an hour to fill it.

Good introduction for my kids to rustic camping. Well spaced campsites, but still visible to your neighbor. Campground was not crowded when we were there, mid-June. Well maintained vault toilets. Host was friendly and busy. Access to a beautiful lake, right across from our site #31, we canoed a breezy morning there and watched the sun set that evening.

From Bay Mills, travel west on County Road 42 (Whitefish Bay Scenic Byway) for approximately half a mile, then turn south on Forest Road 3699 to the campground entrance.
Highway access
Monocle Lake Campground is accessible via County Road 42 (Whitefish Bay Scenic Byway), which connects to M-129 approximately 10 miles to the east.
