Whiteface Reservoir

Great campground hosts at Whiteface Reservoir! TJ and the crew do a great job taking care of the campground. Very helpful to the campers. Always friendly, and easy to work with.

Very good experience camping here in our camper van. Some kids, so a little noise but that is OK.

We love going to whiteface, Teri is like family, the kids love going to say hi and get some ice cream. Teri and the crew take such great care of the place and the bathrooms are amazingly clean! Whiteface is like our second home!

We had an awesome Labor Day weekend! Even though our campsite (#4) was listed as a waterfront and very clearly was not. We went to the front desk and the staff was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. luckily, there was an empty fcfs *ACTUAL waterfront campsite right across the way (#6) . We purchased both sites as they were smaller sites and we wanted to be sure to have enough space for tents. The water front was lovely, that bathrooms were impressively clean! As a professional cleaner this was a big PLUS for me 🙂 all around great place. Would for sure come and camp again.

Campsite 1 was not level but was OK for a couple days.

I like that the sites are not crowded, they offer ice and firewood, nice sandy beaches on the lakeside campsites. Beautiful lake to boat or paddle on. Nice beach for swimming. The office was closed though during my time there.

What I don't understand though is the number of sites that people have reserved for over a month (or more) at a time. My trip there was quiet which was great but the lake side sites were not available when I went to book my reservation. During my time there, the lake side sites across from me were set-up but no one ever occupied them. Should people be allowed to reserve a space for the 14 days allowed (or more) and then not be there? How is this fare to other campers who would like to have these sites? I think this should be re-evaluated so that other campers have a opportunity to reserve these sites.

Super nice and private camp sites!! Couldn’t even see our neighbors camping next door. Peaceful and quiet. The lake is a little muddy and there are parts with a lot of weeds. Not a good lake for swimming, but excellent for boating, kayaking, paddle boarding, or fishing!

It would be a fantastic location if there was a shower house😊

Whiteface is my new favorite for off the grid camping!! If you’re willing to do without the hookups, it’s totally worth it! There are lakefront sites large enough to accommodate RVs - mine is a 22’ TT and I had plenty of space. The picnic and lounging areas for each site are away from parking and offer privacy and a more forested experience. There is also a group campsite and a whole section right on the lake for tents only.

I went during the week and it was quiet and peaceful. I could see where most of the sites were reserved for the weekend and that would be a busier time. Loop 1 is a little more crowded but Loop 2 and 3 are spacious and more private. Loop 4 is mostly long term rentals. Each site has a path that takes you to the lake, some with their own private beach! Sandy lakeshore affords a great place to park your kayak, canoe or boat.

There is a trail that intersects each site along the lake and takes you to the swimming beach, pavilion and boat launch.

There are some sites with electric hook ups if that is your thing. Generators are allowed during the daytime.

Bathrooms are numerous and exceptional clean - the hosts check them daily. No showers, but this is a state forest and feels like one! The camp store was closed most of the time I was here, but I didn’t need it.

Me and my dog (yes! dog friendly too!) really enjoyed our stay here and plan on returning regularly.

As a side note: cell service is almost nonexistent (t-mobile), but I was able to walk out to the road and get 2 bars when I needed to connect with family.

Great sites. Private and quiet. We would stay longer, but need more reliable cell signal or WiFi for family to reach us.
