We have stayed at Pokegama many times over the past few years, Always ( well almost always) on the river side, The view is great in the morning and even better sometimes in the evening,. We used to enjoy talking to the Ranger that would come around to check us in, guess that's a thing of the past, However we did see one drive by, so they do exist.
For us it makes a great place to camp and is also near where our daughter and family live and also granddaughter and her family live nearby in Grand Rapids. The camp is neat and well kept, the rest rooms are clean . This was our second stay at Pokegama this year, and am looking ahead to next year.

This campground was very well kept and had some great hiking trails along the headwaters of the Mississippi.

Campground was nice. If you have a riverside site, expect people to walk through the grass by your site. The bathroom and shower rooms are at the main building but because of the dam and trails nearby you get people who aren’t campers using the bathrooms constantly, same goes for the parking lot.

One of the nicest COE campgrounds around. As everyone knows there are a lot of them. Campsites are large and level and right on the Mississippi River. Very peaceful except for the occasional trains going by. Trains didn’t bother our campsite visitor…a cute little black bear that was up in a tree and then came down and ran right in front of us.
