What Guests Are Saying
Hernando Point Campground offers a charming escape with spacious, clean sites and beautiful views, especially along the river. Many guests appreciate the peaceful atmosphere, well-maintained facilities, and the friendly staff, making it a great spot for families and RV owners. While the lake is currently dry due to repairs, visitors still enjoy outdoor activities like walking and fishing in the pond, and they look forward to future improvements.

We stayed ten days at Hernando Point….ants are horrible! After I got home I had to spray our camper with ant bombs and close it up. The whole time we were there we never saw a camp host…Homeless people came and set up in tents at night and left early which didn’t give me the best feeling of being safe. Some people move from site to site and appear to be living there. Overall I am not very impressed with the campground. The pads are nice but geez….I had to spend a lot of time fighting the ants! The grass was knee high which isn’t good either!

This could be a nice campground if the "camp hosts" and "security (off duty cop) person" would actually make themselves seen and make rounds. The campground has a few people that live here, just move all their junk from site to site (since there isn't any gate/check in). Also the grass is knee deep (very buggy). I did see the ranger drive around once in the week and a half I was there.

Beautiful spot. Lots of room between campsites. MOST IMPORTANT--loved the fact that you now have sewer hookups!! One of the reasons I bought a travel trailer was I wanted MY bed and MY bathroom. I was disappointed to see that only about 1/3 of campgrounds have sewer hookups. Thanks again for this. I know it wasn't cheap to install.

Spot 48 is nice, but needs to be mowed more than it was. There was hardly any space to enjoy outside because most of the yard is grown up and only a small spot is mowed. Our 30 amp power also went out and we had to plug into 50 power. There is also no shade so be prepared for that if staying in warm months.

We stayed overnight in site 6, which is on the lake, twice (one week apart) on our way to and from a family reunion in Kentucky...this was the halfway point. Be warned that the first sites on the lake have an issue with ants. Bring plenty of Raid ant spray. We did not realize the ant problem until we saw them crawling up our power cord and all over the back of the camper. Some got inside, but they were easily eradicated with the Raid. The second time, we were prepared and sprayed the electrical cord and anything that had contact with the ground with the Raid. Not one single ant that time made it to the camper. Gnats were a little bad, but not aggravating. The view is beautiful. Site is pretty level side-to-side, so no need for us to use our levelers. We will definitely be back when we can take enough time off work to drive 6 hours towing again. Verizon signal was very weak and sometimes nonexistent, but we did not mind at all, as we were just there overnight and relaxing. Hernando has a very nice Kroger's and plenty of restaurants. I did not find the drive there to be too bad at all. Very pretty little town.

Great campground! Beautiful shaded sites! The bathrooms were clean and had air conditioning. The only negative were there were lots of black flies.
