Long-term repairs to Arkbabutla Dam must be completed before water levels can return to normal. This affects boating access and water-based activities on the lake. Many boat ramps are currently closed with Hwy. 51 Landing being the only open ramp. Most day use and campground facilities remain open for public use. Everything was very nice. I am so happy I found this hidden gem!
I hope there are more full hookups with sewer next time. We truly enjoyed our stay but the mosquitoes in the camping area away from the water were vicious and my wife was not happy about that. Other than the skeeters everything was great. Please spray more often to allow us to enjoy the outdoors a little more.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers reminds all visitors that coast guard approved personal floatation device is required when conducting activities on or in the waters of Arkabutla Lake. These activities include but are not limited to swimming, waterskiing, riding on personal watercraft, kayaking, and other boating related activities. If vessel is under 16 feet in length a PFD is mandatory at all times. If vessel is over 16 feet in length, PFDs are only required while making way under main propulsion. |
