Baxter Campground is highly praised for its beautiful scenery, well-maintained facilities, and clean restrooms, making it a favorite for many returning visitors. Campers appreciate the spacious sites, peaceful atmosphere, and helpful staff, contributing to a relaxing experience. Some concerns include maintenance issues and site access for larger RVs, but overall, guests express a strong desire to return.

Our first stay here was excellent. Large paved sites, clean shower house. Friendly staff. Water and 50/30/20 amp sites as well as some amazing primitive sites. View of lake from all sites. Many are full shade. Lakeside sites from number 10-27 are well suited for larger rigs, but several sites on the upper loop are too. Info on Recreation.gov seems accurate. This park is well off the highway but the drive isn't difficult at all, just hills and curves. So very quiet and peaceful, at least when we were there. Cell signal okay with Verizon. There is a marina with store and restaurant at this park. Branson is an easy drive, groceries and hardware in nearby Kimberling City. Millie Jo's restaurant is right outside the park and we enjoyed a meal there. We will most definitely return to Baxter COE.

We paid for an electric site, but the electric did not work on our site, number 43. No attendant until the next day. Also, I am not happy with the new $10. modification fee that recreation.gov charges if you want to change sites or dates of camping.

While we love the campground, this year was a little different. They had water running across the road in many spots with some kind of algee growing making it like a skating rink. On our last day I slipped and fell damaging my arm told the park attendant and the answer was yeah we know it's slick we are going to call tomorrow and see about someone coming out and see what they can do. We were there 3 days not sure why they waited until the last day we were there to even think about doing something, apparently they had several complaints while we were there.

Nice campground. Very clean and well kept. The only trouble we had was with the flies. You couldn’t eat outside at the table because of them.
Will be back next year.
