What Guests Are Saying
Frank Russell campground is highly praised for its clean, spacious, and well-maintained sites, including level concrete pads with full hookups and ample room for privacy. Visitors appreciate the beautiful surroundings, well-kept trails, and facilities, making it a favorite for camping with horses and enjoying outdoor activities. While some noted issues like noise from neighboring sites and the need for more on-site staff, overall, guests express a strong desire to return and recommend the campground for a relaxing experience.

Nice big site. A little further from Hannibal than I expected.

We were just there for a layover so not to much to review. Everything worked, nice and clean.

We arrived and found that the power outlet at our site was in bad shape and the driveway was sloped. Ranger Chris arranged for us to move to a much nicer site. Most of the sites were very level and many have 50 amp. The shower house was clean with plenty of hot water. They are in the process of up dating the entire campground to full hook up so it will probably be closed a year according to one of the maintenance men. Not a lot to do at the campground but the visitor center at the dam overlook is excellent! We spotted Bald Eagles hunting over the water. Then we found a series of easy Geocaches in the area. Charming Hannibal is not far away so we visited for the day and took an entertaining Riverboat Cruise. Excellent stay.

Campsite was nice. Level. 50 amp and water. There were only 6 other campers so very quiet and peaceful. Dump station was easy access. Never did find the dam. We were able to ride bike. Saw a few deer while riding bike.

Frank Russell Campground is one of our favorite places. Lots of trees, clean, picnic table and fire ring. Great place to ride your bike, has a wonderful archery range and fishing pond. Will be back!

Check-in was a bit confusing but loved the campground. The site was a bit unlevel and needed a few inches of blocking under the rear tires but the site was very clean and LOTS of room between campsites! Only electric was available at the site and only 30 amp but that was all we needed anyway.
