About Fuchs House

In the late 1930s, Rudolph Fuchs built a five bedroom concrete and native stone house for his family, and also built the present wheel house to produce electricity for his needs. Power was obtained by building a dam in a semi-circle below a large spring forming a small pond. The water was to pour through a chute on the wheel to produce electricity; however, electricity arrived to the site before the wheel ever needed to do its job. The area had an undershot wheel providing power to a grist mill in the late 19th century.

What Guests Are Saying

Fuchs House offers a beautiful setting with spacious accommodations and helpful air conditioning, particularly appreciated during the hot July weather. Guests enjoyed nearby scenic hikes and found the location convenient for exploring local attractions like Sam A Baker State Park. While some mentioned issues with water and uncomfortable mattresses, overall experiences were positive, with many planning to return.

This was an awesome getaway location just to relax and kickback with nature! The house is great to stay in and a lot better than I imagined!

I was very pleased with our stay ans the facilities. Tell house is well furnished and decorated beautifully. We held a small family wedding during our stay and had a great time. There are some branches hanging over the drive that need cut back is only complaint

Our experience wasn't as good this year as it was last year. The pond is an eye soar losing water because of a sink hole and ots loaded with seaweed. There wasn't a bbq pit the house wasn't cleaned. The shower know was falling off and wouldn't turn on the hot side. But I fixed that.air condition wasn't working in 2 of the rooms and a few other issues. So wasn't too happy with our stay this year.

Lovely house and location. Make sure you get the door code from the park service people ahead of time, though.

My family went to this location on Thanksgiving weekend. We had a wonderful time exploring woods, springs, and mills. We really enjoyed the fireplace and table with a chessboard. The front porch was perfect for morning coffee with a beautiful view. The house has 3 bedrooms upstairs and 1 bathroom. One of the bedrooms has 4 matresses/2 bunkbeds. Total 6 beds upstairs. The main level has 2 bedrooms. The Master bedroom has a king bed and twin bed on the side. The other bedroom has 1 bed. Total of 3 beds on main level plus 2 sofas in the living room. You have to bring your own sheets or sleeping bags and pillows. there is one bathroom on the main level as well. I liked antique furniture and the style of the old world, but it was a little dusty everywhere and also not organized in kitchen cabinets and drawers, but we really didn't care about it that much. My son said the house had too many mirrors, which didn't bother me. Overall it was great, we really valued our time together there and made wonderful family memories, which is the most important.
