About Little Bear Cabin

Little Bear Cabin was built in 1938 and still looks much the same as it did back then. It is available year-round for recreationists, as well as for those who seek a quiet mountain retreat. The cabin can be accessed by vehicle during the summer and fall (June 16th - December 31st) weather and snow conditions permitting, but winter access requires snowmobiling or skiing 10 miles from the paved road. Guests are responsible for their own travel arrangements and safety, and must bring several of their own amenities.

While the cabin is difficult to get to, it certainly has charm and isolation. Be prepared to unlock two gates. The view is amazing and the cabin is warm and cozy. I could not find an axe to chop wood, but had warm September nights at the cabin and really did not need a fire. Make sure to bring everything you need. There really isn't much more the a few forks, spoons and coffee mugs at the cabin.

We loved our stay at Little Bear Cabin. The cabin was warm and cozy despite the wind that raged outside. The view of Bozeman is magical and the peaceful remote setting restorative.

The cabin is amazing. The view is great and wood stove is awesome with plenty of wood ready.
I recommend arriving with a means of cleaning up in case others have left the cabin messy. We needed to clean a bit when we arrived and had a great time after cleaning. There were also some supplies in the cabinets inside the cabin if needed.

At least one group of people daily try to come down the road so it’s not entirely private. Next time I’ll bring a rope and sign…
Beautiful views abound and fun woods to explore. Note that the lake is a steep plunge down the mountain and back. It is totally hikable but definitely not a short stroll.
Would book again.
