The ppl next to us had dogs that kept coming over to are campsite and running at us causing my dogs that were probably chained up to try to protect us and we asked them multiple times to keep there dogs on their own site and was completely disrespectful about it and continued to let them come over and stayed up till 2am screaming and drinking if you can’t follow the rules and keep ur untrained dogs on a leash don’t bring them it ruins the experience for everybody else or buy a 10$ chain from Walmart and if u can’t afford that then you shouldn’t be buying a 20$/night camp spot

We stayed at Helgate group site over Memorial weekend. We were instantly impressed with the site. We had a large group with children and dogs that had plenty of room to play. The camp host was was so friendly and kept the facility clean and kept us informed of anything that was going on around the campground if it pertained to us. WE will defiantly be back.

Overall, we had a great stay and loved being so close to the water. The campsites are closer together than what we're personally used to, as we typically camp in more secluded campgrounds, but that wasn't a major issue. The camp hosts were great; they made sure the generators were turned off during quiet hours and let us know they were available if we needed anything. The location alone makes this campground worth it, and we would definitely stay again.

Hellgate is a wonderful place for a group campout. The shelter has lots of picnic tables, lights, and electricity, and there are two outhouses nearby. The path to the lake is a nice walk.
