One of the best. We had phenomenal weather with colorful sunrises and sunsets overlooking the mountains. Larch were in full color. The cabin is incredibly spacious. The fireplace keeps it warm and cozy. Easy access to many National Park and National Forest sites and hiking trails.

Policies & Rules

Arrival & departure

  • Maximum stay is three consecutive nights, with a total of seven days allowed per year. Check-in is at 2 PM and check-out is at 12 PM.
  • For weather and road condition updates, contact the ranger district office at (406) 387-3800 during business hours. No refunds for weather-related issues.

Cancellation policy

  • Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
  • Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
  • Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
    • Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
  • Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
  • Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
  • Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.

Wildlife & food storage

  • Store food and garbage properly to avoid attracting bears. Keep them inside the cabin or a hard-sided vehicle.

Utilities

  • Use a wash basin for gray water and dispose of it in the vault toilet to prevent frozen pipes in winter.
  • Minimize light usage and set the thermostat to 55 degrees when not in the cabin to conserve propane.

Pets

  • Pets and livestock are prohibited at the cabin.

Safety & rules

  • Minor maintenance work is allowed during your stay, but avoid other buildings on-site.
  • Bring your own garbage bags as this facility operates on a 'pack-it-in, pack-it-out' basis.
  • The cabin is locked. You'll receive a combination lock code in your reservation confirmation.
  • Clean the cabin before departure; a fee applies for extra cleaning.
  • This remote cabin may have mice; use supplies provided to trap them and keep the cabin clean to prevent issues.

Fires & fuel

  • Firewood is for heating only. Please replenish the wood supply before you leave.
  • Firewood is available only from October 1 to May 1 and cannot be used in the outdoor fire pit.
  • Obtain firewood locally to prevent pest spread; do not move firewood from other areas.

Site types & loops

  • Commercial use of the cabin is not allowed.
