What Guests Are Saying
Sloway Campground offers a clean and well-maintained environment, with friendly hosts providing free firewood and helpful amenities such as picnic tables and access to the nearby Clark Fork River. Campsites are spacious and well-separated, making it an ideal location for peaceful camping, especially during weekdays. The main drawbacks include noticeable noise from nearby trains and the interstate, which some guests found disruptive, but many still enjoyed their stay and would return.

Nice clean campground. A little noisy with the train but that is the only negative.

Well kept campground. Hosts were super nice. Offered free firewood. We did not find the train noise that distracting.

We camp here every year — twice this past summer. People like camping spots for various reasons. My ‘plusses’ for Sloway are:
- campsites are nicely separated from each other
- bathrooms are clean (thanks to Don and Yvonne, camp hosts, who are now moving on to a different location after 6-7 years at Sloway)
- there is available wood for fires
- access to the Clark Fork River
- good picnic tables
- access to St. Regis or Superior if you need more ice, food, or have a hankering for a huckleberry milkshake
- cell service if needed why camping
- not overly crowded during the week days
- play area with volleyball and horseshoes
The ‘minuses’ are:
- noise from the interstate; I-90 can be noisy with trucks at all hours
- the train; tracks are just across the river so the train is close; the necessity for conductors to blast their horn at crossings results in startling loud wake-ups in the dark of night (oddly, I personally do not mind the old timey feeling compared to the highway noise)
-often full on summer weekends

The campground and its vicinity to the river were great The train however makes it a “not again” destination. Heavy sleepers would be ok. I didn’t hear the trains but everyone else did.

Campground was very clean, everything was as described, and we would stay there again. We picked the campground as the staging point for our ride on the Hiawatha Trail.

Campground is beautiful. Trains going by 5 to 6 times a night with very loud whistles blowing a mile before the crossing and after! Very annoying. Access to river is very steep and never saw the camp host.

campground was very clean and vault toilets were extremely clean. Camp host's were very efficient. Road noise is only drawback.

Really glad we made this stop. Peaceful campground and despite being so close to the highway, the road noise was barely discernible. Trains were close by, but we didn't mind. Easy to find a spot late at night.
