My granddaughter and I really enjoyed our stay. The cabin was warm and comfortable, and we enjoyed listening to the birds.

So much room! The views were peaceful, and despite being RIGHT on the highway, the cabin still feels very secluded as it is down a steep bank off the road. Just something to note if you bring doggos or small kids - the road is close.
Cozy, comfortable, warm, appliances worked well, fire pit and benches were close, the shed had a maul (that I forgot) for splitting wood, and we all had a blast.
I was glad I brought:
Lots of drinking water (there is a well pump for washing dishes), toilet paper, and trash bags (there is a bin, but no extra bags), sheets and pillows for the beds, first aid kit (there is one provided, but I'm still glad we had ours).
I didn't need it (but brought it and hope to save you the time) because it was supplied:
A coffee press, pots and pans, knives, utensils, plates/bowls/cups, sponges/soap for dishes

The cabin was an absolute mess when we got there. There were food crumbs on the table and flies everywhere. We swept, vacuumed, and wiped everything down. The cabin has a huge fly problem. We took all the fly traps down and hung 10 new ones that I brought. It was livable the next day. The fly traps were almost full in 2 days!

I go there to get away from it all. Once I pull in that driveway, I don’t leave until I have to come home.

The nature trail that is off the first road to the right going south in the state forest was enjoyable. The cabin was clean and it was nice to have lights and electric heat.

Once again, we had a wonderful stay at Swan Guard Station. Nothing like a "Spring Break" trip that includes waking up to 2 fresh inches of snow! Our only complaint was that the front door lock was extremely difficult to get open and at times locked members of our group outside even when it was unlocked. This could be a dangerous situation on a cold night if a guest didn't have someone inside the house to open it up for them. It was a good reminder to all of us that keeping your car keys on you when going out of the cabin wasn't a bad idea.

Convenient location for Nordic skiing. Adequate heat (it was very cold when we were there), adequate kitchen equipment, good fridge and very nice stove, mattresses were adequately comfortable and not broken down, living room furniture was adequate.

This is a rustic cabin rental. While we have supplied the cabin rental with several amenities please realize this is not a hotel room or a vacation house rental. Some renters are not as courteous as others and may leave the cabin less than spotless. Please take this into consideration when forming your expectations of the cabin rental. |
