Apgar is a large, beautiful National Park campground. It is located near the shores of Lake McDonald for lake activities. There are limited services available, which we like, so if you require such amenities then this is not the campground for you. We would like to see a generator-free loop or two. Apgar is located near the Visitor Center where the shuttle bus can be accessed to tour the Going to the Sun Road. There are bears throughout the park and Apgar campground is no exception, so you MUST be bear-aware and take the necessary prevention/precautions. It's a necessity, not a suggestion! Unfortunately, Recreation.Gov does an inadequate job of describing the sites. Some are small and not appropriate for oversized RV's and this is not reflected in the site descriptions. Others do not have tent pads, which is not identified and that makes it difficult to find a site with a flat, cleared spot to pitch a tent.

Campground was great, the site was large and clean. Would be five stars other than the noise from the construction.
