I was pleasantly surprised by this campground. Looking at the map before my arrival I got the impression that Apgar would be like a small city-- it's such a big campground! In person, however, we found that the sites were private and nestled among the trees and bushes. The campground was quiet even though it was nearly at full capacity. We will definitely stay here again!

We really enjoyed this campground and walking distance to the visitor center and the little village. Unfortunately the road to McDonald’s lodge was under construction, and very very rough and very muddy.

Campsite was not at all good for car camping, but the rest of the site was full so we lived with it. The Glacier reservation system in mid-Sept is worthless. A lot of "First come First served" (they all filled up in the early morning) or were only released to book a couple of days ahead of time. We found camping in commercial sites just outside of the park to be less restrictive (lots of rules in the park) and much easier to book. They were slightly more expensive but we felt it was worth it.

Beautiful campground, walking distance from Apgar Village, Lake McDonald, and Apgar visitor center. A little close to Going to the Sun Road so there is traffic noise on the side near the road. Helpful and kind hosts & rangers. If in an RV, be sure to come with fresh water in your camper - we saw people using the POTABLE WATER at the dump station to hook up to their BLACK TANK rinse! There isn't anywhere else in the park to fill your RV with drinking water.
