What Guests Are Saying

Avalanche Campground is a well-maintained, clean campground with excellent access to popular hiking trails, including Avalanche Lake and the Trail of the Cedars. While some sites lack privacy and amenities like hot showers, the beautiful surroundings and convenient location make it a recommended choice for campers. Visitors appreciate the friendly camp hosts and the serene atmosphere, despite some minor issues with restroom cleanliness and noise.

Great location, right on the trail. Just beware the handicap tent spot is a raised platform which could be an issue for someone with mobility issues.

Campers were very noisy until way past quiet hours. Camp host off duty. Dish sink broken. Sign posted to take dish water to another part of the campsite. No lights or soap in bath rooms. Could be a good campsite but needs staffing.

4

Great campground with nice bathrooms and close to many popular attractions. Trail of the Cedars and Avalanche Lake Trail start near the site and very close to Lake McDonald also. The site specifically didn’t have a tent pad and we actually couldn’t even use tent stakes because of big rocks under the surface. Also the pull in was on the narrow side for our pickup. Other than that everything else was perfect.

Campsite good, restrooms ok. Trail behind camp was a great find when we were stalling cause we didn't want to leave. Bear box available. Loved staying in the park but could only snag 1 night. Can walk to Avalanche Lake trail was a bonus for sure!

4

Awesome campground. Was nice have water fill stations close by. My only complaint was this campground has shared bear box’s which were all full nearby our site so we had to put our stuff in my truck.

A27 large site, not particularly private but perfect for hiking to Avalanche Lake and not having to worry about finding parking. There is a path that links to the trailhead just opposite the site. Drinking tap is opposite but a slightly longer walk to the toilets than expected. Rangers came round regularly as lots of non campers came round requesting to park at our site as couldn’t find parking at the trailhead. Good for a 1 night stay to complete the hike. If you complete the hike, walk right to the other end of the lake for a quieter beach experience. Spotted a bear there and got some peace on a busy trail. Beautiful!

It was a great campsite. Surrounded by the trees and close to everything. The camp post was so nice and I felt very secure. I would definitely go back there again. I need more huckleberry ice cream.
