Very nice location. The campground is near by the Avalanche Lake trailhead, so don’t worry about the parking lot to take the trail.

Campground well maintained with great campground hosts. However, there was no hot water, no light and no soap in the washrooms.
Facilities need a big update.

The campground was fantastic. Quiet and peaceful. The downside was the lack of access to be able to high on longer trails due to the inaccessibility of shuttle tickets even with satellite connection for getting online in conjunction with the three hour time limit at Logan. The current system makes hiking a lot less accessible for people who want more than a wander to hidden lake overlook.

it's so beautiful and quite place to camping also close to hiking trails next of campsite.

West Side Entrance
- West Entrance – From Columbia Falls, take Highway 2 east to the town of West Glacier (approximately 33 mi (32.9 mi) from Kalispell).
- West Entrance – From Browning, take Highway 2 west to the town of West Glacier.
East Side Entrance
- St. Mary Entrance – From Columbia Falls, take Highway 2 east to the town of Browning (approx. 83 mi/83.3 mi). At the traffic circle, exit onto Hwy 89 north and continue for another 30 mi (29.8 mi). Follow the signage to the St. Mary Visitor Center / Going-to-the-Sun Road.
- St. Mary Entrance – From Browning, take Highway 89 north to Going-to-the-Sun Road.
Highway access
Avalanche Campground is accessible via Highway 2, which runs east to west near the park, providing access from both Columbia Falls and Browning. The west entrance is reached by taking Highway 2 to West Glacier, while the east entrance can be accessed via Highway 89 from Browning.

Policies & Rules
General
- Food storage regulations are strictly enforced. Grizzly and black bears frequent the area. When not in immediate use, all food, beverages, coolers, cooking utensils, pet food, or other attractants must be kept in a closed, hard-sided vehicle or secured in bear proof storage lockers near campground restrooms.
- Vehicle length limits. Vehicle and vehicle combinations longer than 21 feet (6.5 m) or wider than 8 feet (2.4 m) including mirrors are prohibited between the Sun Point parking area and Avalanche Campground.
- Maximum Stay. Campground length of stay is limited to 14 days.
- Noise must be kept to a low level that does not disturb other campers. Generator use in campgrounds is permitted only during the following times: 8 am to 10 a.m., noon to 2 p.m., or 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
- Fire Rings Only. Campsites contain fire rings but do not have fire grates for grilling/ food preparation.
- Hammocks. Hammocks must be hung over non vegetated areas using one inch straps or wider. Vegetation may not be trampled to access hammocks.
- Maximum Number of Tents. Campsites allow a maximum of 2 tents per site.
- No Firewood Collection. Firewood collection is prohibited within Avalanche Campground.
- Renting an RV or trailer? Per 36 CFR 5.3, commercial business may not take place inside Glacier National Park. This includes RVs and trailers being delivered within Glacier's boundaries. Renters of these must drive them in themselves.
