What Guests Are Saying
Avalanche Campground is a well-maintained, clean campground with excellent access to popular hiking trails, including Avalanche Lake and the Trail of the Cedars. While some sites lack privacy and amenities like hot showers, the beautiful surroundings and convenient location make it a recommended choice for campers. Visitors appreciate the friendly camp hosts and the serene atmosphere, despite some minor issues with restroom cleanliness and noise.

Great location in an amazing park! 2 awesome trails (Trail of the Cedars and Avalanche Lake hike) for walking/hiking are right there which made it easy for my family (6yo and 3yo). We loved Glacier and will be back.

Great campground, bathrooms were clean potable water was accessible, and the bar boxes were conveniently located throughout the campground. I would definitely go back. Also love that it is at the trailhead for avalanche Canyon hike, which is super convenient because the parking to get to that hike is insanely busy..

We were very disappointed in our camping experience here. Yes, they have flush toilets, but no lights or hand soap, and often out of paper towels and toilet paper. The nearest water spigot was about 8 campsites down from us. They double booked our spot, so when we got there, someone else was already set up in our spot. There are NO public showers on the west side within the national park. We had to go to KOA and pay $15 per shower. The only thing good about it is that Avalanche campground is near one of the most popular hikes, so you don’t have to worry about finding parking for that hike. If you are camping, I would highly recommend staying at Many Glacier or St.
Mary where there are showers available, and soap/lights in the bathrooms.

Convenient campground located next to Avalanche Lake Hike and Trail of the Cedars so you don’t have to fight parking. Nice and quiet. If you are needing to use starlink, there are only a few sites with enough tree/sky clearance for a good connection.

Avalanche is a great location to stay. Going to the Lake Avalanche, proximity to Logan Pass, make it an excellent choice.
Less good: the new admission of all cars and the restricted service of the free shuttle, make the park less accessible, and with added crowds less appealing.

It was wonderful! I loved that the washroom lights were off. We could see so many stars.

Great campground to stay at. Sites are close, but people are respectful, and the grounds around each site aren't trampled on/worn down like in other campgrounds. Bathrooms were clean, and the host was nice and helpful. Wish we could have stayed longer.
