Great, clean campground. Close to plenty of recreation. Only real downside is that there’s not much privacy between the sites but it’s a large front country campground, so what can you expect. Would absolutely recommend staying here

Such a great campground. Excellent location and beautiful sites. Stayed in two different ones, both great. Only downside is no hot showers. :(

Avalanche B loop is the best campground in all of Glacier!

Great way to have access to trails in the Avalanche area. So many times parking is not available in the parking areas as it is one of the most popular areas of the park. Be advised, the campground is close to the highway, so you do get some traffic noise, even quite late at night.

Beautiful and quiet campground. Some of the sites are a little smaller. But it's a great location for a few nights. Especially if you want to hike to Avalanche Lake. The day use parking lots fill up quickly and it can be difficult to get a spot. If you camp here, you don't have to worry about it.

Avalanche campground was quiet and we appreciated the distance between campsites, plus the vegetation surrounding them. The fire pit, picnic table and bathrooms were excellent. It was the packed rock of the tent site which made it nearly impossible to drive in our tent stakes that made us unhappy.

Avalanche Campground has multiple entry points on the east and west side of the park.
West Side Entrance
- West Entrance – From Columbia Falls, take Highway 2 east to the town of West Glacier (approximately 33 miles (53 km) from Kalispell).
- West Entrance – From Browning, take Highway 2 west to the town of West Glacier.
East Side Entrance
- St. Mary Entrance – From Columbia Falls, take Highway 2 east to the town of Browning (approx. 83 miles/134 km). At the traffic circle, exit onto Hwy 89 north and continue for another 30 miles (48 km). Follow the signage to the St. Mary Visitor Center / Going-to-the-Sun Road.

Avalanche Campground is accessible via Highway 2, which runs east to west near the park, providing access from both Columbia Falls and Browning. The west entrance is reached by taking Highway 2 to West Glacier, while the east entrance can be accessed via Highway 89 from Browning.

Policies & Rules
General
- Food storage regulations are strictly enforced. Grizzly and black bears frequent the area. When not in immediate use, all food, beverages, coolers, cooking utensils, pet food, or other attractants must be kept in a closed, hard-sided vehicle or secured in bear proof storage lockers near campground restrooms.
- Vehicle length limits. Vehicle and vehicle combinations longer than 21 feet (6.5 m) or wider than 8 feet (2.4 m) including mirrors are prohibited between the Sun Point parking area and Avalanche Campground.
- Maximum Stay. Campground length of stay is limited to 14 days.
- Noise must be kept to a low level that does not disturb other campers. Generator use in campgrounds is permitted only during the following times: 8 am to 10 a.m., noon to 2 p.m., or 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
- Fire Rings Only. Campsites contain fire rings but do not have fire grates for grilling/ food preparation.
- Hammocks. Hammocks must be hung over non vegetated areas using one inch straps or wider. Vegetation may not be trampled to access hammocks.
- Maximum Number of Tents. Campsites allow a maximum of 2 tents per site.
- No Firewood Collection. Firewood collection is prohibited within Avalanche Campground.
- Renting an RV or trailer? Per 36 CFR 5.3, commercial business may not take place inside Glacier National Park. This includes RVs and trailers being delivered within Glacier's boundaries. Renters of these must drive them in themselves.
