It was nice being inside the park and having daily access to the GTSR. The campground has very little trees and there is absolutely no privacy. Sites are very close together. But our site, C106, had a beautiful view and was close to the restrooms. The showers during our stay in July were unavailable due to construction which was disappointing. The ranger programs were awesome. You can walk from the campground to the St. Mary's visitor center which was nice. There is a dump station and fresh water taps throughout the campground. The restrooms were some of the cleanest I have ever experienced at a campground. I will say that the process of securing a reservation was a nightmare. I sat on my computer six months and a week before our desired dates trying to secure a site every day for 10 days. I ended up having to piece together various sites from what I could secure through the reservation system and the cancellations of those who were lucky enough to actually get through. There has to be a better way!

Incredible location and views. However I was disappointed at how close the campsites were to each other. I guess this a product of the crush of visitors and campers that want to use the parks.
The restrooms were clean and well kept.
The park is incredible. The best I have ever been in.

The campground itself was fine, but we didn't find out until we arrived that the showers were out of order. We were advised to use the showers at the Rising Sun campground, but they were also out of order. There were no showers available at all in the east side of the park, even though the NPS website clearly lists free showers as an amenity in the St. Mary campground.

Very clean and quiet. Spacious and relatively private camping spots. Would love to camp here again.

Lovely campground, beautiful scenery from many sites, good for birdwatching, and quiet in the evenings and mornings. Wish the showers were open, though.
