About St. Mary Campground

St. Mary Campground is the largest campground on the east side of Glacier National Park, and is conveniently located approximately a half-mile from the St. Mary Visitor Center. The visitor center offers interpretive programs, shuttle service and Red Bus tours leaving from the center. The campground sits near the entrance of the popular scenic byway, the Going-to-the-Sun Road.Beginning August 17th through September 11th, St. Mary Campground will transition to a day-of reservation window, reservations for these dates may not be made in advance but must be made on the day of anticipated camping.Generators are allowed only in Loops B & C. We camped here because it was advertised as having showers... We didn't know that there were only 4 showers for the entire campground and 1 was usually out of service. The lines to use the showers commonly reached 20 people deep every night during our stay. I also have a suspicion that people who weren't camping in the campground drove in at night to use the shower too.

Other than that it was nice. Facilities were clean, campground was quiet at night, plenty of shade...

Awesome. Sue was a great host with lots of info. Close to lots of good spots and quiet area. Cell service was good. Showers. Logan pass 30 minutes away. If I go back I will Teri to get same campsite

it was a nice peaceful area to camp. i liked that there showers to use(although not much hot water). Was nice to use after a long day of hiking. I had Camp spot C124. It's not too far away from bathroom so it's a couple spots away from bathroom so not a far walk late at night if you need to use the bathroom. Spot has a little bit of protection from the sun when it's setting but kind of exposed in morning and afternoon.

Policies & Rules

Cancellation policy

  • Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
  • Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
  • Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
    • Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
  • Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
  • Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
  • Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.
