Always clean, quiet and safe. Very easy to get to and close to home. One of our favorite campgrounds.

We always enjoy the peace and solitude at Calville Bay. The host has been consistent for several years and the campground is clean. We enjoy the proximity to the city with all it amenities and the surounding desert habitat is beautiful expecially at dusk. It's sad to see the lake recede and the viability of the campground decline too.

A great campground. Site pads are all flat and level, and paved. Restrooms have flush toilets and lav sinks, and electric light at night (no need to use a flashlight). There's no soap to wash your hands with, so bring your own. The concrete picnic tables are relatively new and in good condition. No trees or shade, but if you are camping in the winter months, that's not much of a problem. There is a very nice picnic area and a dump station right next to the campground. Hoover Dam is about 25 miles away, same for Henderson if you need to get gas, supplies, or groceries. Valley of Fire State Park and the Moapa Valley are about 50 miles away, and well worth spending a day exploring. There is a cell tower on a hillside only a few hundred yards away from the campground, with direct line-of-sight, so there's excellent cell phone service for Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile. The best season for camping here would be approximately November 1st to April 1st. In midsummer, it's very hot, so you probably would not be able to tent camp here; if you are in an RV you would have to run your generator and AC system full time as there are no electric hookups. For the amenities you get at this Campground, the $20 camping fee is more than reasonable ($10 with Senior or Disabled pass). If you have a National Parks passport book, you can get it stamped at the visitor center near Boulder Beach, which is about 8 miles from Hoover Dam. You can also get a date stamp for Valley of Fire State Park at their Visitor Center. Lake Mead is about 150 feet below full pond elevation, but the Callville Bay launch ramp and Marina are open, even in winter, so you can launch a boat and get fuel at the marina gas dock. Be warned though, that their fuel is crazy-expensive, like $5.75/gallon. Best to get your gas in Henderson if you can, I paid $2.95. There is WiFi service in the campground through a paid commercial service provider; I didn't partake. If you use solar panels, there's clear sky view for all sites.

Never crowded or noisy. Make a campfire, set out some chairs and enjoy the star filled sky. Keep an eye on the shadows around your camp and you might be entertained by some of the Kit Fox that are none to frequent the area.
