I did not want to leave! It was an amazing experience. About less than a mile away from Lake Alpine either hike or drive. Lots of things to do! Camp Host Dennis was amazing and shared maps of hiking spots. Be bear aware! Please follow the rules and put all items in bear locker to keep everyone safe including the bear. Had a bear encounter because 2 campsites over did not put their cooler into the bear box.

We had a nice time. The weather was very warm. I’ve been going to Lake Alpine for 63 years so it’s a favorite destination unfortunately, most of the pads that silver tip are deteriorating and need to be redone. Some of the tables are in pretty bad shape some of the shrubs need to be trimmed so people can get in without scratching their vehicles, but definitely the parking pads need to be redone. Then when we visited the Marmont picnic area, everyone in our group was very sad. There was a lot of tree removal going on, and I completely understand that but clean up the mess there were logs everywhere you had to step over the logs, tripping hazards, brush, and then brand new tables plopped right in the middle of a pile of trees. How can people even function how is that even safe especially for the elderly trying to climb over logs that have been cut down or even carry your paddle boards to the lake and try to carry them over all that debris63 years and I’ve never seen it so bad clean it up Alpine clean it up

Well maintained campground (Silver Tip). Camp host is friendly and conscientious. We've been coming here for over 40 years! Usually, quite peaceful.

We found the area manager to be incredibly rude. The host at Lake Alpine west shore was also rude. She had the road blocked so that we had to check in every time we tried to drive to our site, but she was never there. We were also yelled at by the host and the area manager because we had too many tents but the right amount of people. The area manager yelled at us to read the rules posted on the tables but there were no rules. We also checked the website and could not find a tent number rule. After that the host started inspecting our camping gear without our permission. I've been camping in federal campgrounds for over 30 years and I've never had such a negative experience. These people need to be removed.

We liked our campsites and the campground. The sites seemed spacious, fitting at least 2 tents. The host, Thom, was informative and friendly. The lake is a 20 min walk/hike away via trail, or a less than 5 min drive. There is a general store 5 min away.

A gem. There is a trail that leads down near the lake, it is a little long about a mile. The campground was very clean when we were there, it felt like a little slice of heaven. I came during the week and there was almost nobody there, which made for a very peaceful stay, we couldn’t have been happier. My dog and I had the best time adventuring all around here. We will definitely be returning! Plenty of trails nearby for a few hikes. Super close to the lake. The host was friendly and even came to check on us a few days into our stay. Bathrooms were clean and stocked. Beware if you come from low elevation, you need to let your body acclimate to the environment!
