What Guests Are Saying

Thomas Canyon offers stunning views, a relaxing atmosphere, and plenty of hiking opportunities, making it a favorite for many campers. Visitors appreciate the clean facilities, well-organized campground, and the nearby creek for swimming. However, some concerns were raised about maintenance issues, such as the lack of a camp host and cleanliness of restrooms, which detracted from the overall experience.

The Ruby Mountains are beautiful, snow capped gems in Nevada! We used Thomas Canyon Campground as a quiet peaceful base camp for day trips - to Lamoille Lake, Island Lake, Thomas Canyon’s lake, the marshes of upper Lamoille Canyon, Ruby Lakes, and Angel Lake in the East Humboldt Mountains. The creek in the campground was a great place to cool down after a day of hiking. We couldn’t have had a better time! We’ll be back!

Thomas Canyon campground has great views of the Lamoille Canyon and is close to trailheads. Campsites are well-spaced so are not too close to each other.

The overgrowth around the roads and camp sites is horrible. You could barely open the camper doors without having grass and bushes hindering. The flying insects were also the worst I have ever seen. Even with spray, you could not comfortable sit out during the day.

I was astonished by the extraordinary views of the soaring cliffs, along side of and above Thomas Canyon campground. There was a flowing stream near the campground that offered very pleasant sounds during the evening hours. The camp host was very diligent in providing a watchful eye for all campers. The restrooms were clean with sufficient amount of toilet tissues available. Drinkable water was available for those campers who chose to fill their water containers from the spigot at the campground. There is an adventurous and arduous trail heading south and up to the base up Snow Lake Peak. Because of the extensive winter storms of 2022-2023, there were two substantial snow fields that confronted one as one walk towards Snow Lake Peak in July 2023. Once a person has arrived at the base of Snow Lake Peak, you are greeted to the sight of cascading waterfalls & a modest sized Alpine Lake. There many fly fishermen fishing along the stream. I recommend Thomas Canyon Campground for campers.

Beautiful location. C loop has the best private sites. I prefer dispersed camping but this location is so beautiful I will be returning for max stay.
