What Guests Are Saying
Thomas Canyon Campground is praised for its stunning views, peaceful atmosphere, and excellent hiking opportunities, making it a favorite for many visitors. Campers appreciate the clean facilities, proximity to nature, and the soothing sounds of the nearby creek. However, some concerns were raised about maintenance issues, including a lack of camp hosts and cleanliness of restrooms, which detracted from the overall experience.

Gorgeous and well-maintained camp sites. Tent pad was private from the road.

Great campground with gorgeous views. Services a bit weak and about 20 mi away. No cell service.

Loved it, will be back. Could not believe the conditions of the rest rooms, have never seen Forest Service rest rooms so clean - the Host Company's crew needs to be rewarded.

Great location. Dry camping. Awesome trail head that starts in the campground--the road to the upper trails was closed due to slide/washout activity.

Campsites were well maintained and the bathrooms were spotless. My family loved the area and we will be coming back again next year.

The campground was quiet and clean. There were problems with reserved sites and other people being in them. This was the case with us .

Very clean campground with private sites and great views. The stream running through the campground is absolutely stunning and teeming with trout. Did the Tomas canyon hike it was pretty moderate trail with exceptional views.

Thomas Canyon Campground is located 7 miles up Lamoille Canyon in the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest. The canyon road comes to a dead-end a few miles up from the campground where a major trailhead verges off into hikes of varying lengths. The campground itself is fairly spartan with 42 campsites, a few potable water stations, and clean restrooms with vaulted toilets -- rustic, but adequate. There are no showers or other amenities.
There is also a trailhead inside the campground that begins at campsite 33. The hike is fairly steep, but levels off periodically as it follows a stream up the mountain with several small waterfalls. The campground and hiking trials are dog friendly but do require dogs to be leashed. Overall, the campsites provide little seclusion. We found the campground to be crowded, noisy, and the Host to be indifferent to our questions/concerns. I would recommend Thomas Canyon Campground as a stopping point to a better adventure, but not as a vacation destination. There are too many superior Campgrounds to be found.

Beautiful location. Campsites have decent privacy, and the camp hosts are terrific.
