Valley of Fires is great campground! Sites were spacious with plenty of room between them. Our hookups all worked as expected. The paved trail through the lava flow is informative and picturesque. The restrooms and grounds were clean and well maintained.
We used Valley of Fires as a Base Camp to tour surrounding attractions like White Sands, Three Rivers Petroglyphs, Cloudcroft and Ruidoso.

Nice clean campsites, vault toilets are clean and hand sanitizer dispensers are full, trash receptacles are readily available, and water and dump station are easy to access. Showers were closed for repair while we visited. It's a beautiful small park with a nice trail through the lava field.

Great campground in the middle of a lava field! There are several sites with water and electric, and a dump station. For our visit on November 29th, the camp host was very helpful, very nice, and glad to be there. There is a decent convenience store 3 mi away with supplies and diesel fuel at a reasonable price. We had a great time!
