Black Mountain Campground was beautiful and a great experience! The camp sites are a nice size and the facilities are very clean. It is right along the South Toe River and there are plenty of trailheads you can hike right from the campground. You can also get firewood right in the campground. The campground is fairly remote and there is no cell service. We stayed in campsite 23 and would highly recommend!

The Find Outdoors personnel are fantastic. Roger and Diane really care about your experience. The bathrooms are very clean. Trailhead to Mt. Mitchell at the campground which was great for an early start. Plenty of nice 2-5 mile walks right at the campground.

Our new favorite campground right in our “back yard.” The city address is the same as ours but this place was nearly 45 minutes away from our house.

We had a fantastic experience. This is a small, quiet, clean, full of actual nature campground. The staff was pleasant and helpful. The camp sites are well spaced. The bathrooms were cleaned daily.

There is plenty of hiking and exploring options.

Then at night all we heard was the water rushing down the river, the crackling camp fire and the insects trilling in the background. It was lovely!

Our campsite seemed very large and there was plenty of privacy. We look forward to coming back!

Our first time to this campground. First - be prepared for no electricity in the camp sites. We were aware and prepared so not an issue. Second, be prepared for large, wooded campsites, great hosts, quiet, friendly neighbors and best restrooms/showers we have seen in federal/state campgrounds in years! A real gem in the shadow of Mount Mitchell and only minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway. WE WILL GO BACK!
