Isolated, quiet campground at the base of Mt Mitchell. Staff was friendly, helpful, and accessible. They worked to keep the facility clean. Saw them visiting with supples and cleaning tools multiple times a day. Very few electric sites, but otherwise thought the sites were pretty nice. Many sites suitable for larger RVs and trailers.

Excellent site. The camp hosts were very friendly. Wood was decently priced. Bathrooms were clean. Not far from the river and several trailheads. I would definitely come back again!

This is a difficult one to rate for this trip. We were there during TS Fred when the river flooded. During this event the staff and fellow campers worked together to make sure all were safe and as comfortable as possible, There was damage to the approach to the bridge which was fixed pretty quick, The sites along the river were damaged and needed some work also. Once the repairs to the bridge were complete they closed the campground. I somewhat understand the closing but wish they had kept the upper loop open. I know we/they can't control the weather but shutting down really was a bummer.

Black Mountain Campground is a lovely place right on the South Toe River. The hosts went out of their way to accommodate us. The facilities were clean and welcome after a week of no showers!

This was possible the most well kept campground we've stayed at in our 4 years of camping. The grounds were so clean and absolutely beautiful. The facilities were very nice and immaculate. Staff was kind and helpful as well. Add in the fact that there are hiking trails that you can walk to from your campsite, and it's the perfect camping spot. We also hopped onto the Parkway for site seeing, visited Mt Mitchell, and saw some waterfalls in the the area. HIGHLY recommend this peaceful gem and all of it's well kept beauty. This was our first time camping without hookups, and it was a breeze. We will be back for sure!

Fantastic campground. Bathrooms and showers were always neat and clean.

Zero cell service and no wifi around. This could be good or bad depending on what you like.

The campground was small enough that I felt very safe with my son. The restrooms/showers were clean, as were the grounds. The staff was friendly and so kind to the young children. I will definitely return.

This was our first time camping at Black Mountain Campground, and we loved it! The camp hosts were so friendly, the bathrooms and showers were clean, and we enjoyed the trails and the creek. This was a great place for our family.
