Cape Point Campground sites have a shortened reservation window. Due to the ground saturation and potential for flooding we encourage you to check the sites prior to paying. Cape Point Campground is centrally located to all of the attractions on Cape Hatteras National Seashore. The campground puts you within walking distance of arguably the best fishing and surfing on the east coast.

Great camp sites here. The only complaint I have is there was no hot water for showers. That would be a huge plus. It is very well kept up and spacious.

This is our favorite primitive campground in the Spring & Fall. Those not familiar with the area need to be aware of the weather. This campground is prone to flooding during heavy rain periods & stays soggy for quite awhile. Even though the campsites are spaced out nicely, they are narrow & short for todays larger RV's. There are deer, rabbits & birds of all kinds freely roaming the campground. It's close to the beach 4x4 ramps, restaurants & groceries. If you like to fish this is the place to be!

Beautiful well maintained campground. Large sites. Large distance between sites. Well maintained toilets. Biking to lighthouse or to main road is easy. Access to beach (south or north side) is close by. Only negative point is the cold water showers system.

Well kept and quiet campground! Beach access was limited (areas protected for birds) but if you follow the gravel road in the back corner of the loop you can drive back to access. Also close to access at the old light house site. It rained all day the evening I arrived and the site was swamped, but drained quickly the next day. Overall a great experience and sites were nearly empty! Plenty of cell signal (att and Verizon)!

If you bring a Canopy for shade its quite the bargain! Cold Showers only but what can you expect for the price? Plus in summer it didn't matter. Very close to ocean, flat well mowed sites, large picnic tables and decent sized grills. I'll be back.

The campground is in a low lying area that floods easily after a heavy rain. Reservations may be canceled with limited notice.

Camping is limited to a total of 14 days of camping between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Making reservations under another name or account to circumvent the 14 day restriction is prohibited.

Quiet hours are 10:00 pm - 6:00 am - Generators must be turned off during quiet hours.

Wood fires are not permitted in the campground. Only charcoal cooking fires are permitted in a grill, stove or other self-contained unit.

A fire may be ignited and maintained only by using fuel sources designed and commonly used for warmth or the preparation of food, such as charcoal briquettes or natural firewood. Lighting or maintaining a fire with other materials including, but not limited to, flammable liquids, garbage, fireworks, plastics, aerosol canisters, batteries, or other manufactured or synthetic materials, is prohibited.

There is a limit of 6 persons per site, a maximum of 2 cars, or 1 car and 1 trailer, and a maximum of two tents.

Pets are welcome but must be on a 6' leash at all times. Electronic collars are not considered a leash. Pet excriment must be picked up and disposed of in trash recepticles.

Biting insects are prevalent in the summer months, therefore netting and repellent are recommended.

All equipment must fit on the site pad; large RVs over 25 feet may have to park second vehicles in auxiliary parking away from the campground, or purchase an additional campsite. Vehicles cannot park on the grass.

All campsites are exposed and subject to weather extremes. There are no shaded sites in the campground.

The Access Pass and both the Senior Annual and Senior Lifetime Pass are the only passes that provide a discount on the fee for the campsite physically occupied by the pass owner, not to any additional campsite(s) occupied by members of the pass owner's party. The discount does not apply to utility hookups. The pass discount must be applied at the time of the reservation; it cannot be applied retroactively.
