Cape Point Campground sites have a shortened reservation window. Due to the ground saturation and potential for flooding we encourage you to check the sites prior to paying. Cape Point Campground is centrally located to all of the attractions on Cape Hatteras National Seashore. The campground puts you within walking distance of arguably the best fishing and surfing on the east coast.

Quite place, clean restrooms, very close to beaches. You can get 4x4 beach by foot. In June there were not mosquitoes. Grill provided.
Deers are walking around. Cool place. There are no air on gas stations in area. Just in case if you want deflate air in tires for 4x4 beach, bring air pump with you.

I have stayed at Cape Point many times over the years. Beautiful campground, very uncrowded, quiet. Nice green grass ground cover is great for tent camping. Beaches including excellent surf spots close by, Cove beach is within a long but enjoyable walking distance.

I am enjoying my stay, the lighthouse is fantastic, absolutely beautiful! The weather and sea are amazing, and I like the campground. I just wish they had hot water. But I’m working on that with water jugs. lol.

Cape Point Campground is an excellent, rustic (non-electric) camp with so much natural beauty that it needs nothing else! Granted, cold showers and mosquitoes are no fun but the bathrooms were super clean! I would definitely recommend this campground to anyone wanting a prime, affordable location for a vacation in the Outer Banks.

The campground is in a low lying area that floods easily after a heavy rain. Reservations may be canceled with limited notice.

Camping is limited to a total of 14 days of camping between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Making reservations under another name or account to circumvent the 14 day restriction is prohibited.

Quiet hours are 10:00 pm - 6:00 am - Generators must be turned off during quiet hours.

Wood fires are not permitted in the campground. Only charcoal cooking fires are permitted in a grill, stove or other self-contained unit.
General

A fire may be ignited and maintained only by using fuel sources designed and commonly used for warmth or the preparation of food, such as charcoal briquettes or natural firewood. Lighting or maintaining a fire with other materials including, but not limited to, flammable liquids, garbage, fireworks, plastics, aerosol canisters, batteries, or other manufactured or synthetic materials, is prohibited.

There is a limit of 6 persons per site, a maximum of 2 cars, or 1 car and 1 trailer, and a maximum of two tents.

Pets are welcome but must be on a 6' leash at all times. Electronic collars are not considered a leash. Pet excriment must be picked up and disposed of in trash recepticles.

Biting insects are prevalent in the summer months, therefore netting and repellent are recommended.

All equipment must fit on the site pad; large RVs over 25 feet may have to park second vehicles in auxiliary parking away from the campground, or purchase an additional campsite. Vehicles cannot park on the grass.

All campsites are exposed and subject to weather extremes. There are no shaded sites in the campground.

The Access Pass and both the Senior Annual and Senior Lifetime Pass are the only passes that provide a discount on the fee for the campsite physically occupied by the pass owner, not to any additional campsite(s) occupied by members of the pass owner's party. The discount does not apply to utility hookups. The pass discount must be applied at the time of the reservation; it cannot be applied retroactively.
