About Cape Point Campground

Cape Point Campground sites have a shortened reservation window. Due to the ground saturation and potential for flooding we encourage you to check the sites prior to paying. Cape Point Campground is centrally located to all of the attractions on Cape Hatteras National Seashore. The campground puts you within walking distance of arguably the best fishing and surfing on the east coast.

Awesome no-frills campground. Easy access to drive on the beach but don't forget to get your beach driving pass. No electric or water hook-ups but there are several bathrooms and showers.

The weather was fantastic, and with the breeze even better. Camping on grass instead of gravel or dirt is much nicer, and can safely enjoyed barefoot. We were worried about no shelter since we're used to camping at Frisco, however setting up a quick sun shade assisted and with the breeze it was no problem. Bathrooms were clean, showed were good (pull cord is a bit annoying but no big deal). For the price, and level of cleanliness it can't be beat! Will definitely return.

Bathrooms are CLEAN and bug free! Very quiet. Beach access is currently closed for the Osprey to lay their eggs but still a good place to relax, beach is close by otherwise

We tried Frisco Woods, but it was always so crowded and had lots of bugs due to the foliage. We much prefer Cape Point. It is much less crowded, and we get to enjoy the geese, deer, bunnies, and a beautiful view of the lighthouse. The bathrooms are kept clean and stocked.

Policies & Rules

General

  • The campground is in a low lying area that floods easily after a heavy rain. Reservations may be canceled with limited notice.
  • Camping is limited to a total of 14 days of camping between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Making reservations under another name or account to circumvent the 14 day restriction is prohibited.
  • Generators must be turned off during quiet hours.
  • Wood fires are not permitted in the campground. Only charcoal cooking fires are permitted in a grill, stove or other self-contained unit.
  • A fire may be ignited and maintained only by using fuel sources designed and commonly used for warmth or the preparation of food, such as charcoal briquettes or natural firewood. Lighting or maintaining a fire with other materials including, but not limited to, flammable liquids, garbage, fireworks, plastics, aerosol canisters, batteries, or other manufactured or synthetic materials, is prohibited.
  • There is a limit of 6 persons per site, a maximum of 2 cars, or 1 car and 1 trailer, and a maximum of two tents.
  • Pets are welcome but must be on a 6' leash at all times. Electronic collars are not considered a leash. Pet excriment must be picked up and disposed of in trash recepticles.
  • Biting insects are prevalent in the summer months, therefore netting and repellent are recommended.
  • All equipment must fit on the site pad; large RVs over 25 feet may have to park second vehicles in auxiliary parking away from the campground, or purchase an additional campsite. Vehicles cannot park on the grass.
  • All campsites are exposed and subject to weather extremes. There are no shaded sites in the campground.
  • The Access Pass and both the Senior Annual and Senior Lifetime Pass are the only passes that provide a discount on the fee for the campsite physically occupied by the pass owner, not to any additional campsite(s) occupied by members of the pass owner's party. The discount does not apply to utility hookups. The pass discount must be applied at the time of the reservation; it cannot be applied retroactively.   • Must be 18 yrs of age to reserve a campsite.
