Nicely laid out sites, with nice, private picnic areas. Very nice bath facilities with hot showers. Well run, very clean, and helpful staff. Primitive camping isn't for everyone, but if you can go without utilities, this is about as nice as it gets on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

There was a big metal bin to store food. The wooded walkway to the bathroom was unusually scenic. There is no outdoor wash sink, but there are bear-proof trash bins near our camp site. There are no lights on the parkway, so there are tons of stars if you look up at night. We drove a few minutes to the picnic area and got great views of the Perseid meteor shower.
The only confusing part was that the camp store (which sells firewood) was a bit hard to find when we arrived after hours... It is across the parkway, on the same side as The Pisgah Inn, but on the northern end of the parking lot next to the parkway. I wish the camp store direction (and hours) could be noted on the campground map. We stopped at the café at The Pisgah Inn instead, where we picked up a pecan salad for some fiber and a simply decadent chocolate cake.
We are so glad we stayed at the Mt Pisgah campground!!

Beautiful campground with 4 loops. Two for tents only, no campers allowed. The two camper/RV/van loops both allow generators from 8am - 9pm. I could set my watch on the generators coming on in the morning and going off (usually) at night. Super annoying. The guy across from us had one of the loudest generators I have ever heard, and it just destroyed any sense of peaceful camping. Now that generators are allowed, people are bringing shockingly large RVs and cramming them into the tiny camper spaces designed for tiny campers.
There needs to be one camper/small RV loop that bans generators. Then let us know in advance which loop that is so we can choose wisely. Either that or run shore power to all the RV sites.
