This is a great campground. I always stay in the B loop, so I can't speak to the other loops. The campsites are reasonably private, the fire ring and picnic table area is very well screened with dense vegetation. The bathhouse is clean, and the entire campground is well maintained. I had 2 bars of Verizon service at my site.

It was great to be at that elevation during the heat of the summer. Graveyard fields with its waterfalls was a great day trip. Caught some wild trout there also.

This campground reminds of the old campgrounds when I was growing up minus the drop toilets. The bathroom was adequate. My camp site was pretty narrow and there is no flat place to set up like a patio. It was shady and area was quiet. I was only there one night. Boondocking is not my favorite so probably won't be back. I did have a basic Verizon signal but it wasn't strong enough to watch any TV. Very little in my rig works without shore power or the generator and since I have to turn the generator off after 9, I couldn't use my CPAP, air conditioning or pretty much anything other than lights. If you took out the curbing that makes the sites so narrow, it would be easier to set up a patio, at least at my site. Being right on the Blue Ridge Parkway is definitely a plus as is the restaurant at the Mt Pisgah Inn.

Campsite B27. Wonderful weekend at Mt Pisgah Campground. Lovely hike to Frying Pan Fire Tower. Campsite is sloped a bit from left to right. Fresh water is available next to the site. Bath houses are clean. Highly recommend!

Mt. Pisgah is my favorite campground. Though the tent sites on the lower end of loop C are crowded together I enjoyed the stay. One camp near us played sleep sounds late into the night. Bothered my buddy but thanks to my reduced hearing, didn't bother me. We camped on Black Balsam the second night and looked down on surrounding thunderstorms. What a beautiful site.

Getting There
From Interstate 40 west, take exit 47 and turn south onto Highway 191. Stay in the right hand lane and turn south again onto the Blue Ridge Parkway at the North Carolina Arboretum; enjoy the amazing views and nine tunnels along the Blue Ridge Park...
From Interstate 40 west, take exit 47 and turn south onto Highway 191. Stay in the right hand lane and turn south again onto the Blue Ridge Parkway at the North Carolina Arboretum; enjoy the amazing views and nine tunnels along the Blue Ridge Parkway for 15 mi (14.9 mi). You will pass the Mt. Pisgah Parking Area, the Country Store and the Pisgah Inn on the left. The campground is on the right immediately after the Pisgah Inn.
From Waynesville, North Carolina, take Highway 276 for about 22 mi to The Blue Ridge Parkway. Turn north onto the parkway and continue four miles to the campground on the left.
Highway access
Mount Pisgah Campground is accessible via Interstate 40, approximately 10 miles to the north, with access to Highway 191 leading south to the campground. Additionally, Highway 276 provides access to the Blue Ridge Parkway, which is the direct route to the campground.
Policies & Rules
General
- Cell phone reception is minimal in this area.There are showers in Loop B and Loop C. Electric, water, or sewer hook-ups are not available per site.
- Vehicles are to be parked on the pavement of an assigned site or in designated parking areas. A maximum of two vehicles may be parked in each site (i.e. trailer and car, two cars, two motorcycles). Most sites are limited to one vehicle.
- CAUTION: Bears frequent the area. Be aware! You are required to keep a clean campsite and store all food or scented items in your car or provided food lockers. DO NOT HANG TRASH FROM THE LANTERN POST. All food, cooking utensils, coolers, drinks, any scented items and trash must be properly stored at all times. Food and scented items must be stored in a locked vehicle, camper or site storage locker. Never leave the campsite without properly storing food and scented items. All campers are responsible for proper storage of food and scented items while in the campground. Any violators may be fined or summoned to appear in court for improper storage of food and scented items. All campers are responsible for any violations at their campsite, vehicle, camper and/or site storage locker.
- Only one tent is allowed per site unless there is adequate space on the provided tent pad. No more than 6 people per campsite. Group Campsites are located at Doughton Park Campground and Rocky Knob Campground.
- All tents must be placed on prepared pads where provided.
- Hammock camping is permitted, but campers must abide by posted regulations.
- Generator use is prohibited.
- GPS and mapping devices may not provide accurate directions to Mt. Pisgah Campground.
- Firewood Regulation: Only heat-treated firewood bundled in its original packing and bearing a certification seal from the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) or a state department of agriculture may be brought onto the Parkway. Campers may still collect dead and down wood in the immediate vicinity of campgrounds and picnic areas. This rule is strictly enforced!
- Don't Move Firewood: Help protect our forests! Prevent the spread of tree-killing pests by obtaining firewood at or near your destination and burning it on-site. Moving firewood is illegal in some states. Visit dontmovefirewood.org to learn more.
