I stop here every chance I get en route to my mountain backpacking trips. Beautiful setting, spacious, great location for any number of fantastic day hikes, friendly, great amenities, and less than an hour from Asheville. Can’t recommend it highly enough.

Except for the bears waking us up twice in one night, had a great time. A lot to do in the area and the campground people were great.

We had an excellent time tent camping in June. Our great tent site was nestled in the rhododendron. One day we saw a small bear hanging around tents near ours. The campground closed for a couple of weeks to tent campers just after we departed. It was cool in mid-June at this altitude. Our loop's restroom was old and really needed to be torn down and replaced. The campground has two old restrooms and two refurbished ones with one shower each which are nicer.

Excellent campground. Currently closed to tent campers due to high bear activity though.

Great campground. Camp site had privecy and was level for our campervan. Hiked the Frying Pan and Mt Pisgah trails directly from campground and they were great hikes. Closeness to camp store was a plus. Also went to Biltmore Estate in Asheville from the campground and it was a 45 minute drive. Wonderful time and weather was perfect. Highly recommend.

I was reluctant to rate it five stars, since this this place is perfect and I’d hate to see this beautiful place lose its charm.
