About Cedar Point Campground

Cedar Point Campground and Recreation Area is located in eastern North Carolina at the junction of the White Oak River and the Bogue Sound, immediately adjacent to the Swansboro Inlet. It is within 1 mile of full service shopping, and within 2 miles of NC's Crystal Coast and the barrier island beach community of Bogue Banks. The campground is extremely busy and reservations are recommended but must be made 3 days in advance. Of the 36 campsites, 4 are considered first-come, first served campsites that cannot be reserved or held, so a person must physically be there with their camping equipment to purchase the campsite. Cedar Point campground has the option to use Scan & Pay system, but by the rules of recreation.gov it may only be used for first-come, first served sites. Please make sure to contact a campground host to ensure availability before paying for any campsite. Failure to check with the campground host for availability may result in the loss of your camping fee.

Nice big spots with space between sites. Has electric and easy access to water near dump station to fill tanks. Just wish the showers had heat like the bathrooms. Nice Tideland Trail. Would come back.

Our co-host was wonderful. She chatted with us when she saw us out and about when she was coming through to check on things. Everything is well maintained.

Cedar Point Campground is an excellent place to spend time. Owls provide a lovely lullaby as one falls asleep each night. The nearby trail through the wetlands is gorgeous. How marvelous of the Department of Agriculture to manage such places as this campground in the Croatan National Forest so that all of us can enjoy the splendor and healing of being out in the natural world.

Daytime high temperature was in the 60's and the showers were not heated nor was there hot water in the restroom although that was heated. Good location for sightseeing and the area was bicycle friendly.

Cedar Point Campground is a wonderful place to stay and enjoy Mother Nature's beauty. The campground itself is pretty and peaceful, with spacious camping sites set amid lovely trees. You can watch squirrels and birds frolicking in the daylight and you can hear owls calling to one another in the evening. Nearby is a boat ramp for the White Oak River and an incredibly well-constructed hiking trail with low bridges throughout the wetlands.
The bathhouse is always clean, and the showers are warm!
One reason that this campground is so lovely and well-kept is that Diana, one of the two hosts, keeps it mowed and manicured, just as you would care for your front lawn. Diana is also well-informed and helpful in so many ways. She helped me move from a site that I had only reserved for a few days to a longer-term site where I could stay for the entire allowable 14 days. She understand that I am new to the RV life and am learning by myself, so she offered me much wonderful advice, including to let my faucets drip just a little over the couple of nights that it got really cold. When she understood that I struggle with the mechanisms of pumping out the black and gray tanks, she told me about an elbow pipe device that I could purchase that would help me clean out my tanks. I bought this device after I left Cedar Point, and it has been a life changer! In addition, while I was at Cedar Point, I had a spill at the pumpout station, and although I thought I cleaned up after myself well, I did not, and Diana had to work extra hard to take care of the mess that I had made. She never told me this; I only found out that I had caused her extra work by accident, and then I profusely apologized. She was quite gracious. Diana is the kind of campground host that every site should have, and if I were a decision-maker, I'd give her a big raise and a giant Christmas bonus!

The night before we were to leave for Cedar Point Campground, our (expensive...) sway bar hitch was stolen from our car in our driveway (only the hitch - the bars and attachments were with the trailer...). We were VERY disappointed but unable to replace the hitch in time for the trip. Cedar Point and Recreation.gov were very understanding and kind and issued an unwarranted refund.
We will definitely visit in the spring!
