About Cedar Point Campground

Cedar Point Campground and Recreation Area is located in eastern North Carolina at the junction of the White Oak River and the Bogue Sound, immediately adjacent to the Swansboro Inlet. It is within 1 mile of full service shopping, and within 2 miles of NC's Crystal Coast and the barrier island beach community of Bogue Banks. The campground is extremely busy and reservations are recommended but must be made 3 days in advance. Of the 36 campsites, 4 are considered first-come, first served campsites that cannot be reserved or held, so a person must physically be there with their camping equipment to purchase the campsite. Cedar Point campground has the option to use Scan & Pay system, but by the rules of recreation.gov it may only be used for first-come, first served sites. Please make sure to contact a campground host to ensure availability before paying for any campsite. Failure to check with the campground host for availability may result in the loss of your camping fee.

I don't want to say too many good things about this place as it's already very popular. But, you just can't keep this a secret. Its a great place to camp. Close to the beach, shopping, dining. Staff maintains the property very well. Stocks the supplies as needed. Clean for its age. But, could use a new bathhouse. Large sites, with plenty of room. Would like to see the firepits moved away from the woods a little. Our site was right beside the trees

Love this place , great private sites with awesome trails and boardwalks. Went swimming indoors in Carteret, biking to Emerald Isles and kayaking to Swansboro. Two weeks went so fast. Only bad thing no hot showers. Which is huge.

The Camp Ground was very nice and the sites were spread out well so you didn't feel like you had someone over the top of you the whole time. It had the most beautiful nature trail. The host was very nice and was a great help. Two things the could improve on would be cleaner showers and restroom but they weren't that bad at all. We had to take an RV spot because we needed electricity. It would be nice if each campsite had an outlet. I have a medical device I have to plug in and it is always good to charge flash lights and phones if needed. But really nice.

Top two attributes for this campground are: location and quiet. Quick access to Emerald Isle and excellent beaches, along with Hammock Beach State Park with some nice trails and ferry to Bear Island, as well as great kayak routes. There's also a ramp just down the road for canoe and kayak put-in, and a decent walking trail. Pine Knoll Aquarium is 30 minutes away; fun for the kids. And the site is VERY quiet. For those with kids, plenty of open area in the central sites for them to play. Bath house could use some attention - I know it's early in the season, but there was no hot water in the bathrooms and showers were cool, not warm or hot. One stall in the men's room (of two), has issues, with a sign indicating it must be flushed multiple times. There is only one dumpster on-site, no trash cans, so when it's full (as it was), that can be frustrating. Our fire ring was full of ash and debris on arrival. Basically, a little attention to detail and maintenance would move this up to 4-5 stars.

The sites were very spacious and level. Great sunsets over the water just a short walk or bike ride away. The trails are nice, and the area is very clean.
Although it's a good distance away you could hear cars on a nearby highway, so you're not as secluded as the campground feels. The bathhouse could also use more frequent cleaning. There were two occasions where my wife and daughter chose to shower in the camper due to the condition of the showers. The bathrooms are heated & the shower rooms are not, which also made it less appealing. Overall, a very nice & spacious campground.
