About Cedar Point Campground

Cedar Point Campground and Recreation Area is located in eastern North Carolina at the junction of the White Oak River and the Bogue Sound, immediately adjacent to the Swansboro Inlet. It is within 1 mile of full service shopping, and within 2 miles of NC's Crystal Coast and the barrier island beach community of Bogue Banks. The campground is extremely busy and reservations are recommended but must be made 3 days in advance. Of the 36 campsites, 4 are considered first-come, first served campsites that cannot be reserved or held, so a person must physically be there with their camping equipment to purchase the campsite. Cedar Point campground has the option to use Scan & Pay system, but by the rules of recreation.gov it may only be used for first-come, first served sites. Please make sure to contact a campground host to ensure availability before paying for any campsite. Failure to check with the campground host for availability may result in the loss of your camping fee.

Well maintained campground, near level asphalt parking areas, with spacious campsite area. Electric only but several water spigots throughout for easy access. Bath house is dated but clean and accessible. Campground is very close to beaches and attractions. A great home base for a beach vacation.

Love this campground, like the space between sites, clean and very well maintained, like the trees also. have sites of different degree of shades from trees. If not the best maintained campground, definitely way above average. The two hosts were friendly and helpful when assistances were needed. One thing is that it would be perfect to have just cold water in the summer, not just warm water all year long.
Seems the first toilet stall need to have a multiple toilet paper rack, many times I have found only a small roll was left, as the existing rack can hold two rolls the most. No problem with the 2nd one.

We were really disappointed to learn that we could not pitch our tents on the grass. How would we possibly kill the grass in the two nights we were there? There was no usable shade in our campsite, despite the online description as “shady.” Neither camp host was available all day when we arrived; we hoped to move to another campsite, but when the host finally called us (we found a ranger), she said we could not trade campsites—we’d have to pay for another campsite, and would not be reimbursed for the first night or possibly the second since by the time they called us back it was less than 24 hours before the second day began.

I understand that this is an RV campground, but some sites are definitely better for tent camping. Pitching a tent on blacktop (our only option, since the using the gravel area around the table and fire pit would have been dangerous due to the proximity of fire and heat) was less than ideal (how can you put tent stakes in gravel?) we feel that this campground could certainly accommodate tent campers much better, especially those of us short time campers! There are just not many people using tents anymore, despite being easier on the environment! We already had to pay for two nights of an electrical hook up that we couldn’t use.

The campground itself is beautiful; bathrooms and showers clean and in good working order. It’s just a shame that tent camping is just not welcome there.

Be advised that you're not supposed to pull up to a water spigot along the road, to fill your RV. You're supposed to go to the one by the dump station. This is so you don't block the road while getting water. Understandable, but... A sign at the entrance would be VERY useful. The host chasing you off, to go somewhere else for water, when you've been on the road all day, doesn't make for a great start to your stay.
