About Cedar Point Campground

Cedar Point Campground and Recreation Area is located in eastern North Carolina at the junction of the White Oak River and the Bogue Sound, immediately adjacent to the Swansboro Inlet. It is within 1 mile of full service shopping, and within 2 miles of NC's Crystal Coast and the barrier island beach community of Bogue Banks. The campground is extremely busy and reservations are recommended but must be made 3 days in advance. Of the 36 campsites, 4 are considered first-come, first served campsites that cannot be reserved or held, so a person must physically be there with their camping equipment to purchase the campsite. Cedar Point campground has the option to use Scan & Pay system, but by the rules of recreation.gov it may only be used for first-come, first served sites. Please make sure to contact a campground host to ensure availability before paying for any campsite. Failure to check with the campground host for availability may result in the loss of your camping fee.

Wonderful campground -paved, level spaces far apart with varying amounts of shade. Convenient water fill and dump station. Well situated for activities in Emerald Isle / Swansboro area.

Nestled in the Croatian Forest, the campground was beautiful. Campsites we’re spaced a reasonable distance apart and were shaded by the tall trees. Bathrooms were clean and well maintained. On site host we’re friendly and addressed any problem or concern in a professional manner. It was close enough to the beach and shopping to be convenient, yet far enough away to feel secluded. Would definitely stay here again.

We were there for 9 days.
- Never saw Camp Hosts only various cars and motorcycles come and go.
- Showers were in really bad shape. No way to adjust the water temperature and setting was way too hot. One family would up having to take pots of cold water and mix with water coming from shower and bath their children using pots because water was too hot for school age children to use.
- Only saw a Ranger once on the last day we were there.
- Bathrooms were pretty sad.
Overall. Okay if you just want a place to park for the night and don't need to shower.

The campground was spotless and the restrooms were very clean and odor free. The host was evident and helpful.
On structural problem with Recreation dot god's system is no hint if first-come sites availability. We changed our plans and the host guided us to a first come site that was not mentioned on your site.
Because of changing traffic conditions, we tried to get a site in an almost empty campground in another state and were blocked by an attendant who explained he was powerless to change the 24 hour advance reservation limitation. This represents huge lost income to the state parks. We were there; 25 empty sites; no way around reservation system limitations. It might be a training issue, but an advisory note might avoid this structural problem.
Nothing in that observation should detract from the perfect stay we had at Cedar Point Campgroung. It was perfect.

Found campground very clean and well maintained most of the sites are shady. Host and co-host very friendly and helpful. Always enjoy staying here, can't beat the price and only 5 miles away from the beach.
