Standing Indian Campground is a well-maintained and beautiful location, appreciated for its spacious campsites, clean facilities, and peaceful atmosphere. Visitors enjoy the remoteness, access to hiking trails, and the friendly staff, making it a favorite destination for many. However, some campers noted issues like locked restrooms, wet firewood, and occasional generator noise, but overall, experiences remain positive, with many expressing a desire to return.

Standing Indian is one of our favorite campouts. The hiking is amazing and the campground picturesque.

We were disappointed that in the other group sites (right next to our group site) there were RVs - their generator noise & smell took away from our experience.

We were in site A. The site is supposed to hold 20 people, however there are only 2 picnic tables - which comfortably hold 6-8 each. The addition of 2 picnic tables would be much appreciated.

The bathrooms - both the pit toilets & the full showers and toilets were immaculate.

Keep in mind quite time begins at 10 pm, there are no rules about how loud campers can be prior to that time. Our neighbor campers had a PA system which was used all day and evening past 10 pm for talking and playing music. We packed up and left a day early.

National parks are a great treasure and Standing Indian Campground is a gem of a place that allows visitors to have an intimate experience with one of the southeast’s most beautiful wildlands. But what made my visit most memorable was the kindness and professionalism of the staff and the quality of their work which was demonstrated by the organization and overall condition of the camp sites. I hope to be able to return someday. Those who live near the area are indeed lucky to be able to call it home.

Standing Indian is a good campground. However, the camp host refused to turn off their 8 million watt spot light pointed directly at our site, even after we politely asked them to turn it off.

Great campground next to the river, our site was large and spaced out from neighbors, level and long enough for trailer (26ft) plus 2 vehicles. Very nice bathrooms that were cleaned daily. Good camp hosts. Firewood and some supplies available at camp store. No cell phone service at all which I loved
