Standing Indian Campground is a well-maintained and beautiful location, appreciated for its spacious campsites, clean facilities, and peaceful atmosphere. Visitors enjoy the remoteness, access to hiking trails, and the friendly staff, making it a favorite destination for many. However, some campers noted issues like locked restrooms, wet firewood, and occasional generator noise, but overall, experiences remain positive, with many expressing a desire to return.

Our family has a long history of enjoying this campground and Kimsey Creek, and the access to the Appalachian Trail. We were sorry to hear of the demise of the big tulip poplar, but didn't get to "pay our respects" on this trip. I think the berries we found and enjoyed were black raspberries. Playing in the river was a big part of the fun ... from the great-grandson on up the generations! Thanks to a very kind fellow camper, my grandkids got a small taste of tubing. We loved seeing the hummingbirds on the Bee Balm.

Very clean restrooms/bath houses. Grounds were kept clean and we saw campground host walking and driving in their golf carts throughout the day and evenings.

Love the campground with its generally large campsites . Some are smaller but all are good size. Clean bathrooms.
