Everything about the campground is great except for the ticks. I won't return unless something can be done to control the ticks. I removed more than 75 small ticks from myself over the three night stay. This was while tent camping at Frisco campground site P056.

P52 NOT good for a travel trailer or any RV as the shrubs have been allowed to grow up against the parking pad & entrance in/out of vehicles is compromised on the entire passenger side of the vehicle. Tree at rear passenger side of parking pad is an impediment that can damage the trailer.

I love that place, it magical, the night frog in the shower, the biutifull beach, the good maintenance, the site, the tree, the security, everything was so perfect, it on my list about best place to camp in the world.

Very clean bathrooms and easy check-in, made this experience perfect. The weather was lovely which made it possible to spend the whole day at the beach. There are several good restaurants, a grocery store, shops, art galleries, and two museums nearby in case the weather is less than a stellar beach day. Fishing at the ocean or on the sound is also a popular option along with kayaking, or a ferry trip to Ocracoke island. If you love camping whether you tent or rv , you will love this national campground.

North (From Richmond, VA)
Follow I-95 South to Richmond, VA. Take I-64 East toward Norfolk/Virginia Beach, VA. Take I-64 or I-664 to Chesapeake, VA. From I-64, take Exit 291B to Route 168, the Chesapeake Expressway (a toll-road costing $3.00 - $6.00 each way). Once in North Carolina, Route 168 turns into US-158 East. Follow US-158 East through Nags Head, NC to the junction of NC-12 South. Continue on NC-12 South through the villages of Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo, Avon, and Buxton. Once you reach Frisco take a left on Billy Mitchell Road and proceed to the campground.
West (From Rocky Mount, NC)
Follow US-64 East through Tarboro, Williamston, Plymouth, Columbia, and Manteo, crossing the Alligator River Bridge and the Virginia Dare Bridge. Keep going on US-64 East to Nags Head, NC, going over the Washington Baum Bridge, to the junction of NC-12 South. Turn right onto NC-12 South and you will be at the north entrance to Cape Hatteras National Seashore. Continue on NC-12 South through the villages of Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo, Avon, and Buxton. Once you reach Frisco take a left on Billy Mitchell Road and proceed to the campground.
South (From Florence, SC)
Take I-95 North to Wilson, NC. Take US-264 East through Greenville, NC and Washington, NC. From Washington, NC, take US-17 to Williamston and follow US-64 East to Nags Head, NC and the junction of NC-12 South. (For an alternate route to NC-12 South, continue on I-95 North to Rocky Mount, NC. Take US-64 East through Tarboro, Williamston, Plymouth, Columbia, and Manteo, crossing the Alligator River Bridge and the Virginia Dare Bridge. All equipment must fit on the site pad, large RVs over 25 feet may have to park second vehicles in auxiliary parking away from the campground, or purchase an additional campsite. Parking on the grass is prohibited. |

The Access Pass and both the Senior Annual and Senior Lifetime Pass are the only passes that provide a discount on the fee for the campsite physically occupied by the pass owner, not to any additional campsite(s) occupied by members of the pass owner's party. The discount does not apply to utility hookups. The pass discount must be applied at the time of the reservation; it cannot be applied retroactively.
