This the best campground on the Outer Banks. Most sites have some shade. The trees bushes and dunes help make each site seem more private. There's boardwalks out to the beach, beautiful sunrises and sunsets, and plenty to do nearby if you want to find a restaurant, a grocery store, or do some shopping. We try to come every year and always have a great time.

Still a nice place. We were lucky that nobody used a generator close to us. In fact, the only person using a generator used super-silent one that we could barely hear.
Cellphone data is very hard get at that location, we had to stand on a table at the higher point, so it is very hard to get a campsite since there is no staff. I wished some of the unreserved site would become walk-in site at some time in the night so we could simply take them and pay the park ranger the next morning.

The campsite did not have a tent area and was poorly maintained if at all. There was a small flat scruggy area but it was a low ground drainage ditch too small for even a 2 person tent and covered with cactus. The table was pushed in between overgrown junipers with no space to sit down and a snake crawling around. The table was too large and heavy for one person to drag out to an area large enough to sit at.
Camping was a real problem at this. I want a full refund. Please update the camp site details to RV only or send a crew to cut the brush.

I stayed for a couple of days and really liked the unique layout of sites and park. You can actually set up in the shade here and access to both Buxton and Hatteras Village is great too.

I didn't even go yet I get a voicemail stating I've overstayed my booking and needed to leave. So I tried calling to have nobody answer multiple times. There's not even a voicemail to leave a message. I work nights and sleep during the day so it will be hard to get ahold of them without a voicemail.

I have stayed at this campground in the same site since 2011. It is primitive yet very comfortable. The sites are all paved which is something you don't find in a lot of private campgrounds. It would be nice if a dump station were added on site.

We had a great time. Campsite was exactly what we were looking for. Bathrooms were clean, showers were excellent. Would stay here again in a heartbeat!
