This place is so nice, I never wanted to leave. You’re farther away from “everything” but the beach is right over the dunes and it’s amazing, and the sites are more private than the other campgrounds. Showers are cold. Everything seems well taken care of. Easy check in and check out.

Love the amount of space between the campsites and preservation of the maritime dune system. It’s a very quiet, peaceful, relaxing campground! The bathrooms & showers are always so clean. We enjoy the access to Ramp 49 so we can spend the day on the beach swimming and picnicking.

I love Frisco campground. My problem is with the campsite. It is overgrown. We couldn’t deploy our awning. The campground looks like it has been neglected for a while.

Frisco is one of the best of the Cape Hatteras National Seashore campgrounds. Although it's a bit of a walk to the beach (Ocracoke is closer), the size of the campground and number of spaces - many nicely shaded by coastal maritime woods - enhance the outdoor experience. Easy biking to Frisco Beach, Sandy Bay on the sound, and Hatteras Village. Bugs are inevitable but less so in the shoulder seasons...bring a screen tent or picnic shelter. A Sun Shower is a good idea too. Suggest bringing a Britta pitcher or other water filtering container, as the tap water sometimes has an off-putting color/smell/taste.

We camped three nights at site 58 in a 25 foot Airstream. The site worked well for our wheelchair-bound son. We had shade and a glimpse of the dunes and ocean from our site. My husband used the cold water showers that were refreshing; my son and I used our Airstream facilities. We enjoyed trivia night at the Tiki bar in Hatteras and ice cream at Happy Belly Ice Cream. Surf fishing was the main event and we fished from the tip of Hatteras Island facing Ocracoke to the Hatteras Lighthouse. Air station was adjacent the Frisco Rod & Gun store at the entrance to Frisco Campground. We would stay here again.

I had an absolute wonderful time calling at Frisco. The site was very nice and well maintained and even had my own picnic area in the wooded area that was accessed by a private path from my site. I also enjoyed the boardwalk to the beach. Other campers were quiet and respectful. The view of the ocean was also very nice. There was a breeze that felt nice when sleeping as well. I will definitely come back to Frisco Campground.

We have been going to this campground for almost thirty years and always look forward to the next trip. Space between sites and easy access to the beach are main reasons.
