Nice and quiet place. The beach is at the corner. Even with a little distance feom the beach, the boardwalk makes the walk very easy.

I selected campsite P058 which is further from the beach but offers shade and seclusion. its a very nice site but is tight for space around the parking pad. the site is also on a slope so leveling your cooking and sleeping situations is a must. The Bath house is clean and orderly however the showers lack water pressure and while private-ish are not as private as i would have liked ( to door is rather short for me @ 6'5"). Having them is a huge plus though that other campground in the state do not offer. I would definitely return to Frisco and camp there again and for much longer than i was able to this first outing. I brought my rambunctious 6yr old son with me and this was his 2nd time camping and 1st time camping on the beach. He loved it but wished there was a playground. The beach access is amazing and the boardwalks out to beach make for and easy trip out. Great place overall. quiet, secluded, relaxing. oh NOTE: NO CELL SERVICE (t-mobile) within the campsite. some service on beach near to airport but dont rely on it being available at your site.

The campgrounds and facilities were super clean! Loved the "Salties" who were hosts. Watch out for the little burrs, they go through and stick to everything! The water was perfect. Glad we went the week before the forth of July; we were able to drive on the beach with almost no one else around. we were already planning our next visit as we drove away.

Great Campground right over the dunes. Cold showers are perfect to rinse off the salt. Clean Bathrooms and a very nice host this summer.

Very nice campsite. Well maintained and an easy walk to the beach. Ea h site was spaced out and campers weren't cramped in close together. Bathrooms and showers were very clean and close by. Definitely plan on camping here again.

We loved our time at Frisco! A wonderfully maintained and beautifully designed camping facility.
We only have one recommendation. A water fill site for RV’s should be available. Consider that we bring water into the site and don’t put additional pressure on current supplies. However, as we leave, many of us have driven a long way and need water for the trip home.

Great camping site B12. It had two tables and the parking to the site was about 5 yards down a steep soft sandy path. Lots of shade. It can easily accommodate 2 large tents. It's near the 2 campground hosts campers ( in which I've never saw them during the 5 days). Also it is near the restrooms and showers ( very clean )
I don't recommend this site site for someone with mobility issues.

North (From Richmond, VA)
Follow I-95 South to Richmond, VA. Take I-64 East toward Norfolk/Virginia Beach, VA. Take I-64 or I-664 to Chesapeake, VA. From I-64, take Exit 291B to Route 168, the Chesapeake Expressway (a toll-road costing $3.00 - $6.00 each way). Once in North Carolina, Route 168 turns into US-158 East. Follow US-158 East through Nags Head, NC to the junction of NC-12 South. Continue on NC-12 South through the villages of Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo, Avon, and Buxton. Once you reach Frisco take a left on Billy Mitchell Road and proceed to the campground.
West (From Rocky Mount, NC)
Follow US-64 East through Tarboro, Williamston, Plymouth, Columbia, and Manteo, crossing the Alligator River Bridge and the Virginia Dare Bridge. Keep going on US-64 East to Nags Head, NC, going over the Washington Baum Bridge, to the junction of NC-12 South. Turn right onto NC-12 South and you will be at the north entrance to Cape Hatteras National Seashore. Continue on NC-12 South through the villages of Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo, Avon, and Buxton. Once you reach Frisco take a left on Billy Mitchell Road and proceed to the campground.
South (From Florence, SC)
Take I-95 North to Wilson, NC. Take US-264 East through Greenville, NC and Washington, NC. From Washington, NC, take US-17 to Williamston and follow US-64 East to Nags Head, NC and the junction of NC-12 South. (For an alternate route to NC-12 South, continue on I-95 North to Rocky Mount, NC. Take US-64 East through Tarboro, Williamston, Plymouth, Columbia, and Manteo, crossing the Alligator River Bridge and the Virginia Dare Bridge. Keep going on US-64 East to Nags Head, NC, going over the Washington Baum Bridge, to the junction of NC-12 South). All equipment must fit on the site pad, large RVs over 25 feet may have to park second vehicles in auxiliary parking away from the campground, or purchase an additional campsite. Parking on the grass is prohibited. |
