Very clean nice hot showers. We really love this campground we come every year. But what I don't like is people bring their dos that bark and growl every time that someone walks by. Most dogs don't even move but you always have those people. that bring their dog that can't behave. We will keep coming back.

Host in the check in station was not very helpful. They really need to be more friendly and welcoming in their job! The question I had they just told me to go outside and look it up on recreation.gov to find the answer. Horrible interaction!!

The OI campground is a good campground with easy beach access and close proximity to Nags Head. Loop A is too close to the road and very noisy at night. The other loops near the beach are quieter. Overall, a nice place to stay.

We immediately fell in love with this place. Lots of natural beauty, and protected behind the sand dunes. Short hike over the dunes to the beach. We enjoyed the marina, store, and restaurant just across the road. Dump/Fill station is very conveniently located over by the marina too.

Policies & Rules

General

  • All campsites are exposed and subject to weather extremes. There are no shaded sites in the campground.
  • Camping is limited to a total of 14 days of camping between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Making reservations under another name or account to circumvent the 14 day restriction is prohibited.
  • Generators must be turned off during quiet hours.
  • Wood fires are not permitted in the campground. Only charcoal cooking fires are permitted in a grill, stove, or other self-contained unit.
  • A fire may be ignited and maintained only by using fuel sources designed and commonly used for warmth or the preparation of food, such as charcoal briquettes or natural firewood. Lighting or maintaining a fire with other materials including, but not limited to, flammable liquids, garbage, fireworks, plastics, aerosol canisters, batteries, or other manufactured or synthetic materials, is prohibited.
  • All equipment must fit on the site pad; large RVs over 25 feet may have to park second vehicles in auxiliary parking away from the campground, or purchase an additional campsite. Vehicles cannot park on the grass.
  • Biting insects are prevalent in the summer months, therefore netting and repellent are recommended.
  • There is a limit of 6 persons per site, a maximum of 2 cars, or 1 car and 1 trailer, and a maximum of two tents.
  • The Access Pass and both the Senior Annual and Senior Lifetime Pass are the only passes that provide a discount on the fee for the campsite physically occupied by the pass owner, not to any additional campsite(s) occupied by members of the pass owner's party. The discount does not apply to utility hookups. The pass discount must be applied at the time of the reservation; it cannot be applied retroactively.
