Love this campground. Well kept and clean. Warm showers. Great location. I like to use it as a base to use the beaches from Salvo to Hatteras. The best tips are to bring a pair of camp shoes for the massive amount of burrs and pick a spot away from Rt 12 to avoid road noise at night.

Nice campground close to the beach. Plenty of space to maneuver. Sites have plenty of room too but not much vegetation for privacy. Electric hookup. Clean bathrooms but no hot water in the showers. Not within walking distance of anything except the beach. No trails.

Great location near the ocean and Pea Island Wildlife Refuge. Not sure if the shower had hot water since the bathroom didn't seem to. But otherwise the campsite was great.

Nice campground. Close to the beach. Excellent for anyone who is planning some time relaxing on the beach, fishing or even surfing.

We enjoy our time at the Inlet. Very nice guests. Great food across the street at the marine center if you want to get a meal out. We love the 4x4 beach access. It really is a great location. The tent only sites could be bigger. We have selected a few better ones for out next stay. Beware of burrs. We keep the dog out of the weeds and we still come home with burrs.

Of the National Seashore campgrounds on the Outer Banks, this one at Oregon Inlet actually has sites with electric hookup which is nice. Other campgrounds don’t and wish they did. Also this campground actually has heated showers which is nice in the colder months. Verizon cellular was usable and since there is no tree cover in the campground my Starlink worked 100%.

North (From Richmond, VA)
Follow I-95 South to Richmond, VA. Take I-64 East toward Norfolk/Virginia Beach, VA. Take I-64 or I-664 to Chesapeake, VA. From I-64, take Exit 291B to Route 168, the Chesapeake Expressway (a toll-road costing $3.00- $6.00 each way). Once in North Carolina, Route 168 turns into US-158 East. Follow US-158 East through Nags Head, NC to the junction of NC-12 South. Continue on NC-12 South, and the campground will be on your left just before you reach Bonner Bridge over Oregon Inlet.
West (From Rocky Mount, NC)
Follow US-64 East through Tarboro, Williamston, Plymouth, Columbia, and Manteo, crossing the Alligator River Bridge and the Virginia Dare Bridge. Keep going on US-64 East to Nags Head, NC, going over the Washington Baum Bridge, to the junction of NC-12 South. Turn right onto NC-12 South and you will be at the north entrance. Continue on NC-12 South, and the campground will be on your left just before you reach Bonner Bridge over Oregon Inlet.
South (From Florence, SC)
Take I-95 North to Wilson, NC. Take US-264 East through Greenville, NC and Washington, NC. From Washington, NC, take US-17 to Williamston and follow US-64 East to Nags Head, NC and the junction of NC-12 South. Continue on NC-12 South, and the campground will be on your left just before you reach Bonner Bridge over Oregon Inlet.

Camping is limited to a total of 14 days of camping between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Making reservations under another name or account to circumvent the 14 day restriction is prohibited. |
